If the price is too high and nothing can be worked out for Branch, what do you guys think of picking up Todd Pinkston?
I think Pinkston is a scrub, but if signing him would allow them to deal McCareins for a 3rd or 4th rounder its a move I'd probably do.
You don't believe that we can upgrade the current talent we have at the position? I personally don't believe Pinkston is an upgrade, but there is no way I consider this an elite group the way it is currently constructed. Can we stick with it all year? Probably, but if a deal comes along that upgrades the position IMO you do it....
Yes we could certainly upgrade our receiving corps. Do I think our receivers suck or are below average? No. My point is that we have other positions that are far worse off than receiver on this team right now and upgrading there shouldn't be a priority. It seems to me that this thread was created with the idea that we NEED to upgrade our receiving corps. If a reasonable deal comes along that can upgrade our team at any position, why not? The Branch deal is not reasonable, and as you already said, Stinkston wouldn't be an upgrade.
Calm down folks, the thread starter is clearly kidding... Right? Come on now this guy has the worst set of stonehands in pro-football. Plus he's injury-prone and afriad to go over the middle. Yeah, he'll help the recieving core.
We don't need a mediocre receiver. We have McCareins, Cotchery, Smith, Dwight, and Newhouse all on the roster, and they all fit that bill. Pinkston would just be another one of them. We need a playmaker at receiver. We don't need another body. We have enough warm bodies there. We just need a warm body who can play damn well.
