These guys don't play or waste time. Mangini is used to a certain level of play & excellence & will settle for nothing less. Whether its' Mangini shouting on Shott's on the sidelines or diagnosising a need or weakness of the team; I've noticed that as soon I've identified a weakness on this Jets' team, the Tangini team is stepping right up & addressing it. Its like they see what we fans see. I'm wondering if they scan this site :)smile: ). They are doing a good job of re-addressing needs, after overestimating the talent they thought they had. I believe if Mangini saw earlier how his team would perform, he might have drafted a bit different after the 2nd round.

Anyway, you can rest assured that Tangini will make sure more of next years picks have a immediate impact.

Also....I believe that at least 4 or 5 of opening day starters, will be replaced by game 5 & 6 for Jets' to improve & challenge for the East.

    Challenge for the east....lol

Don't let some depth trades get to your head that much. This FO will need another 2 years to really purge themselves of all the misakes the Herm/Bradway era put on this team. Not quite ready to challenge reaching 8-8, let alone challenge our division.

It's true that this regime is working hard to fill holes as they appear, but that's what a team is supposed to do. This isn't rocket science, like the last staff tried to make it appear.

This team is not ready to go .500 yet. Some holes were plugged with temporary fixes. This is nothing more than fingers in the dike.

I don't think any of the draft picks would have changed knowing what they do now. How do you pass on Brick, Mangold, Clemens, and Smith? Even Leon was a good pick for the spot he went. They were picks for the future, nothing more, nothing less.

Yes, the Jets will probably be more competitive than they were last year, but that doesn't mean they will win more. The schedule is harder than anyone is giving credit to. It's going to be a long year, but it's good to see Tangini making moves to improve, even at the granular level right now. It shows they are committed to always being competitive.

This is the same stuff Bradway got killed for though... following public opinion. I'm not saying Mangini/Tannanbaum are wrong, but we need to be consistent. We kill Bradway for getting a pass catching TE, for getting a DT when ours is going on year long suspension, etc etc, to address needs the "fans" see, but when Tannanbaum/Mangini do it it's seen as brilliant.

Frankly, if it takes until we see it for them to address it, it's too late. I'd think they'd see it before we do.

I think it's how these guys make their moves, I feel like the fact that we are able to secure ANY draft pick for Doug Jolley, as well as the fact that we were able to get CJ Mosley AND a draft pick for our fourth string QB... that's just phenominal. If Bradway were still in town, chances are the only move we would've seen this whole preseason is a contract extension and pay raise for Adrian Jones.

Thing is, Bradway always seemed to get the bad end of the deals he made. And his were on a much higher scale. Trading 2 first rounders to move up to the #4 spot in the draft is a lot bigger than trading a 3rd string QB. His moves were more high-risk and unfortunately a lot of them didn't pan out.

The asking price for the #4 pick was legit per the draft chart. Good move? NO, I think it's too much, but it was legit points wise.

I agree, his deals were more risky. However, I just wanted to point out Tannanbaum/Mangini are doing the same things Bradways getting blasted for not doing. Bradway did those things too.. just maybe a little more risky and it didn't work out.

    Fella's

I love Jet fans but Mike and Eric aren't reading messages boards to decide the direction of the Jets..Needing a NT and getting rid of one QB was something everyone knew, but getting value for someone you were going to put on waivers is where the genius lies..The arguement is you could have grabbed them off waivers, but now your competing with the rest of the NFL teams instead of getting them for your cast-offs..How can all Jet fans not be thrilled with Tangini..they are working every angle to make us a competitive NOW..whether you agree with who and what they get is irrelevant...they are working the league every minute to make the JETS better...period

How is that different from getting a low pick for Sam Cowart when he was about to be waived? Just saying...

Run'n'gun....I somehow doubt that the Tanginis of today are poring over our best posters suggestions...they ARE a good looking combo though....I think they will need to make many more changes before they have their team...I agree with an earlier poster that they surely would have gone about some things differently if they had a do-over...but then who couldnt improve on their performance looking back....'cepting Herm of course

Look, when your drafting human beings S**t can go wrong..its not an exact science..thats why you bring in good character stable human beings not gangsta's like pacman or guys you know might not make it like L.White. Pick the kind of guys you think fit your program and philosphy and hope for the best.
