Looks like this has to do more with Tebow in a non-QB role, he will be used A Lot more in the NE game. They need a contingency plan if Tebow gets hurt. That is what it is about.
There's no way this is what it is about. You don't bring a guy in to play backup QB for a week because you're worried that the backup QB is going to break down when you give him a bit of extra work on the day. It's possible that the O'Connell workout was just to see what he has if the Jets decide to go spread-option for the rest of the season after the Patriots game. It's possible that the O'Connell workout was because of something else that we don't know about. It's on the edge of impossible that the O'Connell workout had anything at all to do with Sunday's game. There's no time left for a new hire to even begin to absorb the offense going into that game - regular or spread option. If you want to get really speculative about it you could make the case that Sunday is Sanchez last chance to hold the job. That if he and the Jets get blown out and drop to 3-4 that the Miami game the following week will be Tebow's first start. In that scenario picking up a backup QB who might be able to run the spread-option if Tebow goes down is a logical move. The Jets would be off in fairy-land at that point but at least they'd have another fairy to try to sprinkle some pixie dust if the head fairy got knocked out of the air.
Maybe they are trying to move Sanchez? From nyjetscap: http://www.nyjetscap.com/2012_Articles/afceastqb.html The Jets have financial reasons to keep playing Sanchez this season, if only to maintain some aura of being a 1st round talent in desperate need of a change of scenery. The Jets are on the hook for over $8 million in guaranteed salary next year, making him essentially uncuttable. Find a trade partner and that money vanishes off the cap. There is zero chance of finding a trade partner if he is benched. By the numbers he is clearly the worst QB in the division right now. The question is can he be salvaged to be passable for the remainder of the year? Im not sure anyone believes he can.
They'll ride Sanchez until the season's over or lost and his play is so atrocious that he can't be traded.
Geez, youy came up with that yourself? Are you aware the NFL requires teams to announce when players on the roster are injured? And how could McElroy have gotten hurt? In practice? This is nonsense. No one is hurt.
They can't move him this year without finding a way to pay the cap cost. Even if they can split the cap payment over two seasons it will still be $8.25 million immediately upon the trade and again on next year's cap. If Sanchez winds up busting out of town he'll go with a huge chunk of cash from the extension last winter and a huge cap hit alongside that. It borders on incompetence for the Jets to lose Sanchez and pay the freight like that. I sure hope Woody told the FO to go get Tebow because if somebody else came up with that idea they basically robbed Woody in the process.
Not that I think anyone is hurt, but it's funny seeing someone that knows nothing about football scoffing at the idea of a player getting hurt in practice.
GEEZ thanks for enlightening me with your infinite wisdom. Yes I know that there is a thing called a injury report and if you think every injury gets documented then idk what to tell you. Remember Favres INjury report or lack of, you prob dont: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/item_Ho02tUJygXyNk72UG2tZ6N Thanks wise one. Also letting TBO running in general esp between tackles increases the chances of him getting hurt.
Yes, and you have to ask yourself, if you're a wide receiver (Dwayne Bowe), would you want to leave KC for the Jets? One more thing, guess where Dwayne Bowe is from........ ........Miami, FL
so your wonderful contribution here is based in part on an assessment that the Jets are hiding an injury? Heh. good one.
