I think Tanny is gone. We need a very strong draft next year.

My God...really? There's no way in hell this team goes 2-14, we may yet make the playoffs. Our remaining schedule is freaking SOFT outside the Patriots and one or two others.

Next year, Pace and Scott will be off our books thereby giving us flexibility to sign some talent in the LB corps or in the backfield, or on the line, then draft Le'veon Bell or someone like that in round 2.

-Our WR Corps will look something along the lines of Holmes, Hill+another year's experience, Kerely, Schilens...that could be anywhere from below-average to exceptional.

-Our line should improve if we play our cards right. Thereby improving our running game

-we can finally have a back with some burst to go along with Powell

-Sanchez we're kinda stuck with, but he's alright when given good weapons to use.

    On defense:
Bring back Landry and Bell at safety.
    Revis, Cro, Wilson at CB
some combination of Davis, Harris, Free Agent/First Round Pick, Maybin/Free Agent at LB
Wilk, Couples, Ellis (all with another year under their belt) for the front 3.

We're not entering a pit of doom here...there's plenty of talent to retool around on the roster already.

Any record that gets Tannenbaum and Bradway fired would be a wonderful and glorious record.

5-6 wins is most likely, the schedule is too easy to not to win another game. Besides what would 2-14 get you? Tanny sucks at the draft.

    Jax very likely
    Buf most likely
    Mia maybe
    Ind maybe
    Sea maybe
    Arz maybe
    Stl maybe

I forgot. I thought beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh, 49ers, and Texans was hard to do. Apparently it is easy and the Jets suck.

how about you just enjoy the season that is 5 games old where the entire AFC is sitting in the same spot where we are except 1 team.

Getting a high draft pick means nothing. How many top picks have the Jets or other teams gotten and had them flop? Had them set them back years on expensive contracts that cost them years? How many teams have picked in the top 5 consistently and gotten nothing? The Pats have been perennial winners, steelers, ravens, packers - you know what they do draft well in their spot, trade down , stockpile picks,

I'd much rather say hey go for 9 wins and see what happens.

Why are people thinking the season is over? We are 2-3 where almost everyone predicted we would be 2-3. We can crawl out way to 4-4 and our schedule gets easy very quickly. Couple breaks here and there and we can make the playoffs at 9-7.

Been a fan since 1970. If the Jets lose against Indy, sign me up for 2-14.

Wouldn't you think that there are at least 32 REALLY good players coming out of college next year? We don't need a top 5 player. We just need to pick better. Duh, I know. I'd rather go 8-8 or 9-7 than have 2 to 4 wins. The season is too short and the off season is too long. I have seen enough crappy football from this team over the past few decades to want more crappy football. I just want wins.

Exactly. People are acting like we're losing to the worst teams in the league. The only teams we've lost to are teams we were predicted to lose against before the first snap of the season. If we lose today then we're definitely behind the pace that people anticipated but as you said we are still able to make it to 9-7 based on our schedule which could mean a playoff spot.

Rex has too much pride to let this team go 2-14.

What makes you think the Jets are going to learn any lessons from the debacle that 2-14 would represent?

The new QB is going to be the most marketable thing on the team right now. Sanchez is going to be a disincentive for fans to buy tickets after leading a 2-14 disaster.

The new guy would be on the field day one with all the dreck around him dragging him down. It would be like Sanchez all over again except not on a loaded vet team, instead on a pathetic train wreck.

I can tell you why I feel like this season is over--and this is AFTER the excellent showing we had against the Colts today. Before this season started I looked at our roster and I said to my wife that this team was the weakest Jets team I could remember since the Kotite era. In fact, I said, the way this franchise was heading was starting to remind me of the Kotite era more and more.

Now maybe that isn't fair, maybe it is, I'm not going to debate that in this thread. However, from my perspective, starting out with a crappy roster, having a coaching staff so out of sync with reality that they think our toilet flushings of a team are the best they've seen, and a FO and staff the cannot develop talent has really killed my morale. So I started with little hope for this year. And then, on top of that, a number of our better players have gotten hurt, including one of our few truly great players.

So this is why I have felt down on the team this year. I give them credit for playing with heart tho and some players are showing that they might be coming along. Ellis, for example, has worried me, but he is showing some signs of being a solid player. Hopefully that will continue when he returns.

One last thing: I continue to hold out hope that a poor finish will help us reload on talent. The one thing I do not want from this season is a middling record and to miss the playoffs by something like one or two games. Screw that! Either gimme a solid record and let's charge into the playoffs or bomb this season. I don't want to suffer thru a mediocre season, not get a playoff appearance, AND not get a chance to restock the team. That would be awful IMHO.

This is a good point and worth a rebuttal: it certainly is no shame to lose a close game to some truly great teams (although 34-0 is pretty shameful). But it is hard to argue that the Jets as they are composed seem like they can't run with the big boys. Sure, we whomped of the Colts, but they are rebuilding. They just exploded the team, so this is akin to struttin' around like a badass after you beat up a 90 LB asthmatic weakling. The Bills aren't much better to me and neither are the Fins (and we barely came away with a win against that particular bunch of losers). So my question is this: even if we cobble together enough wins against crap teams to squeak into the playoffs, what is the point if we are utterly incapable of beating a competitive team?

This is the main reason I want this team retooled. Sure, I love whomping on the Bills. It helps exorcise the ghosts from some of the whuppins the Bills laid down on us 20 years ago. But ultimately I want a Super Bowl that I was alive for. I don't see this team as being on the road the SB greatness. As I mentioned, at best they squeak into the playoffs and get utterly humiliated. I'll pass. I want to win and I am willing to wait and let the team build patiently.

Your wife might leave you for Rich Kotite if you're not careful.
