Mark Sanchez lost the starting role the minute the trade went down. Yes, they've been complete circus performers putting Tebow everywhere but at QB and in between, but the gag never was gonna work or ring true. Sanchez is what he is at this point. He doesn't do anything at a high caliber to warrant dumping more money and energy. Pressure, second-guessing and the whole "what Tebow did in Denver" will work against Sanchez during the bye week. Sanchez gets through half of Monday's game before he implodes completely. You cannot be a top QB and be nothing more than a Checkdown Warrior. You have to make plays that lifts the play of the rest of the team. Other QBs do that. Sanchez doesn't. If the defense is playing lights out and giving Sanchez short fields and corner routes to the back of the endzone, then he looks great, even looks off the safety. But without the defense playing and balling out, Sanchez is a pick-six waiting to happen as defenders will bait him into the Tight End or RB Checkdown.
I'd like to see Tebow come in and actually THROW THE BALL. The few times we've used him have been all runs and defenses know it. Receivers are running wide open down field
Even if Sanchez gets things turned around on offense to the point the Jets are competitive he can't make tackles on the the other side of the ball. Bart Scott and David Harris are #1 and #2 in missed tackles this year according to Pro Football Focus. It's looking a lot like 2003 back there.
The stands will dictate who the QB is. 2TDs in three games, a horrific outing against SF and an owner that is more concerned with politics then putting a winner on the field. If Sanchez craps the bed tonight, he's done. Between the two, Tebow can do more with less then Sanchez.
Disclaimer: I am not a Sanchez homer at all However, I think you may be right but its a shame because to paraphrase Trent Dilfer, we royally fucked up in bringing up Sanchez as a QB. We may never know if he had any potential the way this franchize brought him up. Who is he going to throw to out there tonight?
Yeah those 0 pick sixes he has thrown this year definitely were waiting to happen. Yep, any available QB is not fixing this if the rest of the team remains constant. If the rest of the team improves, then a qb change would be more viable
Either disconnect your keyboard or chop off your fingers, because the more you post, the more you make yourself look like an idiot!
Agree. There is a multitude of issues besides the QB but as far as the Jets go, he is done. He has no OL, no WRs, his go to guy is out and he probably feels the weight of the world on his shoulders. Not sure his psyche can take much more.
I love your use of the technically perfect term "dickhead". There's just no better way to sum up his play. Bravo!
