Aug 29 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New York Jets DL Tui Alailefaleula (knee) has been placed on Injured Reserve, ending his 2006 season.
Incredible. We definitely have to bring in Buckner now, or try and work a trade. NT was already our thinnest position and we've now lost 2 guys there. Tui was looking good, too.
anyone know when or how he hurt his knee? I don't remeber seeing him getting injured in the giants game... maybe it was in practice?
Talk about being thin at a position. Time for Mr. T. to earn his keep and start scouring those waiver wires....
Oh damn... Now we have one backup: Brennan Schmidt, an undrafted player whose never played. Now it's almost a lock for the FO to sign someone.
Crap, I know he wasn't a superstar, but the loss hurts. DRob can't do it alone, hell, he doesn't appear to be able to do it at all.
It's the Ghost of 3rd Round Past rearing it's ugly head again. We didn't need a LB and yet another safety. We did, however, need a RB and DT. To prove his point the Ghost of 3rd Round Past took Curtis Martin's cartilage away, cause Houston, Blaylock and Washington to miss numerous blitz pick-ups, messed up Pouha knee, made Monsanto Pope quit and to Tui long name out. Eric Smith and Anthony Schleglel better watch themselves; they maybe next. I don't think the Ghost of 3rd Round Past like those 2. When watching the Jets if you listen carefully, you can hear a faint voice that says, "Woooooooooooooo...Mangini and Tannebaum you should have addressed those needs in the draft...woooooooooooooo".
Here is an old trick used by teams..... if you place a guy on IR before the start of the season you only have to pay him half his salary. I was actually told this by a player who was placed on IR by the Pats last year. If you go on IR after the season you get your full salary. Talk about a weak union, if I get hurt at work I get paid in full and I am non union.
Isn't McChesney still on the team? If so, has anyone seen much of him in TC or the preseason games? Just curious....
NO... he is hurt and he won't be able to play this season, IMO it means the team likes him and they want to keep him around and by him getting hurt it gives them an oppurtunity to hold onto him for another year without the fear of placing him on the PS and allow somebody else to to pick him up. That is juts my opinion but given our lack of depth at NT I would say the injury must be pretty bad.
i wonder if this will have any impact on Titus Adams' playing time. i've barely seen the guy except for several times in the background of photos and wondering the sidelines during games. are there any teams besides Chicago looking to trade DT's? cheers
what about Philly? obviously, McCareins won't work anymore (not that i think we should trade him anyway), but perhaps a draft pick; don't they have a surplus of DT's? cheers
I think the plan is to rotate Kimo in there at DT as well as Titus Adams. It really stinks, considering we had some decent talent backing up Robertson, and now we have absolutely nothing. I think the Pouha injury hurts us more in the short term than Tui...
OK we package McCariens Ramsey Jolly Martin Mickens Adrian and our 1st round pick for: (place you favorite NT here). On a serious note, if Robertson was playing for another team, say NE, would we think he is a guy we need at NT? It's funny how we think players coming over from another team are better than our own players.
