After missing the second-straight day of practice with a hamstring injury, rookie wide receiver Stephen Hill is "looking doubtful" for Sunday's game, per The Star-Ledger. If Hill is inactive, Chaz Schilens and Jeremy Kerley will pick up his share of the snaps. Tight end Dustin Keller was limited again today, but he is expected to be available on Sunday. Discuss...
Nice to have Keller back ... I'm guessing Hill will be out for a similar period of time. Time to see what Chaz has to offer.
It will be nice to have our core recievers and Keller healthy together again....last time we did, scored 48! Afraid this may not happen again for another 3-4 weeks baring injuries during that span. All teams deal with it, but this Offense in not deep enough to endure it consistently
Keller back is a big win for this offense. I'm a fan of Stephen Hill, I think he has a bright future. That being said, the kid can't beat press coverage yet which the 49ers like to do. He would have been invisible anyways.
wish hill was active and we could have the originally planned starters. that said, schillens keller > hill cumberland so i will take the trade off.
We need Keller much moreso than Hill for this game. With Schillens healthy, he is a serviceable replacement and can definitely get open deep. We need to hit some deep routes this game to keep their defense honest. It's an uphill batter, but Keller is crucial.
Keller being back is sweet. Marks #1 target, so that can only help on the offensive side of the ball.
It sucks to know that the injury list is going to be a revolving door of the same players re-injuring their hamstrings all season.
Keller is huge -- has to draw the attention of a safety or linebacker. That can open up lanes in the running game, can open up opportunities for other receivers to get some looks because they can't give help, and it give Sanchez is favorite target back.
I have to think the new CBA rules will "linger" into the season. I dont like the rules, but I'm not a player. We are all still adjusting to the lack of practice. That said, hamstrings were a huge issue NFL wide in the preseason; players need to be in shape for the season BEFORE THE START of OTA's. I hope our traning and coaching staff is relizing what a pesant fan like me is....
So a guy with the drops (Hill) is out making way for a guy with the drops (Schilens). Awesome. Glad Keller is back though.
Keller has been known to a few..18 in three years actually, 4th most among TEs in football. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/07/03/three-year-drop-rate-tight-ends/ I am sure you can find Schilens somewhere there too.
Looking for stats now, but came across this "fun fact" on pff. The highest adjusted accuracy percentage (counting drops as completions and ignoring spikes, throwaways, batted passes and hit as throwns) belongs to Matt Ryan at 83.2%. The lowest is the property of Mark Sanchez at 59.6%. *edit* Can't find anything official, but I swear I remember him dropping balls all the time. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.
what are we gonna do without Hill?!?!!? who's gonna drop all those passes for us??!!??Jesus and when is Keller gonna be ready to come back at 100 percent its been 4 fuckin weeks with this injury,But on the bright side Rex came out and said Revis could play in the Superbowl this year, lol Rex already bought his ticket again
Scielns struggles with getting in the game, being that he'd be a number 5 WR in the Canadian Foot Ball league makes me real excited about his upside
we're talking about drops killing us but we're all fired up for Keller's return???? Yeah, he doesnt drop anything :O
