http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/09/25/team-of-the-week-week-3/ Well, we may be lacking some pass rush, but at least big mo is providing benefit for us along the front. We need those around him to start stepping up and quickly.
I love how Wilk has been playing this year. He really needs to play well with Revis out. I think he is up to the challenge though. This just make me laugh more at the guy who just posted a thread on how Wilkerson has been awful so far this season.
this cant be right, I have read many posts on this very forum only this week telling me Wilkerson is rubbish and a near bust......
Mo Wilk is the truth, I'd rather we switch to a 4-3 though and move Wilk and Coples along the line during the game
I think this is great but does the rest of the line just suck? I thought we were terrible against the rush..actually we are, 28th....
I think it's a bit early for all of this. We were awful defending the run against Buffalo and Miami but stellar against the Steelers. Furthermore, Buffalo was an oddball game because we were up 41-7 to start the 4th quarter. I'd be shocked if we were anywhere near 28th against the run by season's end. I think we have shown definitive weaknesses, but the sample-size has still been irrefutably small. This weekend will be an enormous challenge.
Agreed, it's been 3 weeks, obviously this isn't a full demonstration of what the D is capable of. Honestly, what much has changed from last year that would cause our run D to be so much and worse? Nothing, just 2 bad games, this team won't end the season 28th in run D, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish in the top 10.
That's fair. I would just be really surprised if we didn't drastically improve against the run, especially with all of the attention Rex and the rest of the defensive staff will give it.
in a nutshell, yes devito is apparently ranked high this year as far as dts go, but as far as im concerned, he is getting pushed around out there. wilk is beating double teams to make tackles, devito is making tackles when the guy runs into him and thats it. he jumps on the pile at the end so i guess it looks lke hes in on a lot of tackles or something i dunno, hes getting stood up and taken out of the play by one guy though, not what you want to see consisitently out of your run stopper.
we played the run very well against Pitt the whole game. Against the Bills we played well until later in the 2nd half when it looked like the D stopped trying. Also CJ Spiller has been a best against other teams as well. Last week we tackled poorly in the run game. We aren't great against the run but we are not 28th in the league bad. I expect us to give a better showing than last sunday in Miami. Hopefully it was just the heat getting to them but thats not an excuse. Should be better.
