DiVito is a solid run stopping DE but doesn't rush the passer. Wilkerson is a good to elite run stopping DE who is only slightly better as a pass rusher. Pouha is supposedly one of the best run stopping NT's in the game. Then tell me LT, why are the Jets currently #28 in run defense?

Your point about the Pats rookie has some merit, but Hightower and Jones have proven on the field that they can play (and to a lesser extent Wilson), but ist one thing to have DeVito starting ahead of Coples. Its another that he's only playing around 20% of the snaps.

Given the short terrm nature of NFL rookie contracts these days, I don't think its a wise decision to draft in the top 16 for "developmental" players. They might not necessarily be "impact" players in the league right away, but they should at LEAST be impact players on their own team....or a perhaps a contributor?

Hill might be taking a lot of heat for all his drops, but at least HE's out there on the field trying, and while his hands are subpar right now, they can improve and he can contribute in other ways. Coples can't contribute anything from the bench.

There are more passing downs than running downs in this leauge these days, LT, you can't tell me that DeVito is a more viable option at pass rusher than Coples. If he his, then the Jets look like they made another big first round mistake. If there's another reason, I don't know why Rex wouldn't let everyone know, to at least protect the kid from the criticism

From what I've seen the Jets have sucked dick at tackling with the first guy that contacts the ball carrier so far. Why don't you explain why the Pats are 1-2?

Its easy. They played a bad game against a better than expected good team and lost a game with a missed FG. They lost another game to one of the elite teams in a tough stadium in a poorly reffed game for BOTH sides, but the one which the Pats clearly got the wrong side of. And even in THAT game it took a marginal PI (among several) call and a questionable FG call for the Ravens to eek out a one point win.

Shame on the Pats for leaving the results to chance, they had many chances to win both games, but any outside observer would be less worried aboiut the Pats 1-2 record than the Jets 2-1 record.

Clearly they beat a Miam team that's destined to win 3 games this year who desperately tried to give that game away.....TWICE....3 times if you count the time out block.

Whatever horseshoes up their asses the Jets had this season (and every team gets a few), the Jets used up in that game.....and that has to be a freightening thought for Jet fans.

So enjoy the moment, its probably going to be the high point of your season.

We don't really have a pass rush.

Let's get Coples off of the bench and let him work his magic. I miss watching the preseason games (can't believe I said that) when Coples would be playing. He's a monster when you cut him loose, or at least I think so.

He really was a monster in the second halves of games going up against reserve OL and the guy who brought me my mail today.

He's playing 15-20 snaps a game. That's enough to show SOMETHING, even on one play. He hasn't.

Exactly, Coples dominated second and third string O-lineman in the preseason. It's like playing one on one against your little brother, just because you block all his shots, doesn't mean you're ready for Lebron.

Let us not pretend that people here have not gushed over Maybin, some have expressed a need to sign him to a long term deal. Realist understand what he is. Situational.

Dwight Freeney please no more over the hill guys

Michael Johnson DE/OLB from Cincinnati would be nice to get our hands on and the Giants pass rush makes up for their weak secondary we have an elite secondary, we got run stuffers we just need some linebackers who can either cover or rush the passer and set the edge

In college I played lacrosse with a kid who just wasn't good offensively. Didnt have a lot of talent, couldnt shoot, couldnt juke, couldnt cradle well. Everyone started calling him our "defensive specialist." What was the problem with that? He actually wasn't very good on defense. People just called him that and associated him with defense because he couldnt play offense.

My point is that just because players like Calvin Pace, Bryan Thomas, Bart Scott, David Harris, Pouha, DeVito.. etc cant rush the passer, doesnt automatically mean they are all of a sudden great run stuffers. The front 7 got absolutely gashed in the run game in the first 2 out of 3 weeks so far.
