I never said he wasn't great at UF, or that he was selfish. He was great in that system, with that team. The media frothed at the mouth to run stories on him, and very rarely gave any credit to the unbelievable talent that surrounded him. The exact same thing happened in Denver. It was always Tebow's comebacks, not the stout D and incredible Special Teams play. Even now that he is alomst completely irrevelant, he still gets his highlight reel, regardless of the success of the plays. I've never said it was his fault that this media swarm and ravenous fan base demand his name in the headlines every week, because it's not. It is however, undeserved at this point in the Jets' season, and I'm sure it's just as annoying for fans of this football team as it was for true Bronco fans last season.
Come to think of it, I'm starting to notice a tendency to focus a lot of attention on the quarterback position (positive and negative). I guess this started with Tebow.
wow I love rob parker really? man ...really? ok... well he knows more baseball than Smith and Bayless combined.
you mean over covered. not over hyped. he is hated on and ripped by 99% of all analyst so where is the over hype? again you mean OVER COVERED.
Joke/Sarcasm? Before Tebow was starting last year or the year before ESPN titled it the "year of the quarterback" and unveiled their new QBR. Patriots/Colts matchups were billed as Peyton vs Tom. Etc etc
Agreed, Rob Parker is a good analyst. I think some of you guys don't distinguish between the different types of analysts. If they were all the same, you wouldn't need but one analyst to tell you everything. Some are more focused on the x's and o's. Some are more focused on the personnel and team dynamics. Some are brought in to add more entertainment value. There's nothing wrong with that. You don't have to agree with them, much of it is opinion-based. Two guys I don't like watching are Merril Hoge and Mel Kiper Jr. Boomer Esaison is getting on my nerves too lately. Yeah, admittedly it is mostly based on how they bashed Tebow, but I like Stephen A. Smith even though he bashes Tebow. Honestly, guys like Deion Sanders and Michael Irvin make the shows hilarious. It would be boring if they weren't there. Just think of Inside the NBA without Barkley and Shaq.
Shannon Sharpe is a dbag. I cant stand listening to him on tv bc he sounds like Mushmouth from fat albert...that or his mouth is all distorted from his denver lovin. Guys a joke.
Phaytal, the total sum of your football knowledge can be written on the inside of a matchbook with a fat tipped Sharpie.
Shannon Sharpe took a remedial wonderlic test and still couldn't pass it. Don't get me wrong I loved watching Mister Ed on TV, but Shannon just doesn't cut it.
What I don't get is how some complain about the attention Tebow gets. And some of those people say that's why they root against Tebow. It's a lame excuse to not like the guy. I just think those are the people that just want him to fail. If you don't wanna read about Tebow, don't read the article. If you don't wanna hear about Tebow, turn the radio dial or change the tv channel. The media talks about Tebow because it drives ratings. And it's funny to me that the guys that complain about the attention are the some of the guys trolling on the Tebow sub forum. For instance, the last two weeks, every talk show talked about the replacement refs. I got tired of the topic so I just turned the dial every time it came up as a subject. I didn't bitch and complain about it. I didn't get on the replacement ref fan page and complain about the issue either. I just exercised my right to tune in to want I want to hear.
I'm wondering if you got the "Readers Digest" version of the Florida games. A lot of credit went to Demps, Rainey, Herandez, the Pouncey brothers, Spikes and did I mention Harvin. He has always been very outspoken about being a team member and giving his teammates all of the credit. He did that at Gainesville and at Denver. The only ones I would pass blame on would be the retired football players who think they are God's gift to broadcasting.
