He'll probably get a fine for helmet to helmet. Those are standard these days. Launching with the helmet means leaving your feet and spearing. Timmons had his shoulders and head down. Even some Jets fans have said Sanchez lowered his helmet a bit.

While I think the Timmons hit was dirty I dont think it was a cheap hit. It reminded me of the Harrison hit from last year on Colt Mccoy.

Sanchez looks like hes about to scramble and at the last possible second pulls up and throws. You're going to get rocked.

Sanchez didn't lower his helmet, but his body was in motion. I've looked at that replay a dozen or so times and I can see how someone wanting to see the Timmons shot as being a clean hit, but he was leading with the crown at the head-neck level of the QB.

I'm just tired of the couch experts who expect these players to defy physics and change their motion in a split second after the QB changes his.

Tired, huh? Sounds like you have to participate in this kind argument a lot. That's not as much of a coincidence as you want to believe.

Its just our weekly excuse for our QB. Next week it will be "there was too much air in the ball."

GG - you outplayed and out coached us.

If these hits are so awful then why does the NFL turn around and sell them as part of their "greatest hits" collections?

Because they make money off of it and they were able to avoid compensating veteran players for the long term effects of head trauma. Doesn't mean it's right. Head injuries are serious, but being a Steelers fan, you will conveniently turn a blind eye to them because your team does it so often.

Here's to Troy Polamalu dying of a brain embolism.

Every team has players who "make dirty hits" Odds are good if you find a team that doesn't, then they are a team near the bottom of the standings.

Look at all the dirty shenanigans in the Eagles/Ravens game yesterday.

I agree. The Jets make their fair share of dirty hits, and they made a few yesterday. I don't minimize them, though. I don't like seeing a player get head trauma in a football game, no matter if they're wearing green and white or the colors to the opposing team. I know it's a violent game, but turning someone into a vegetable when they're 40 doesn't strike me as high art.

You're a football fan. All of us are part barbarian. What separates the different levels of fandom and the different teams often isn't barbarian and non-barbarian but how much of a barbarian and what kind of a barbarian. Me, I'm a baddass mofo Green'n'White snuffalupagus barbarian. I guess I'm kinda unique in that way....
