2nd and 16 is not a good time to have Tebow in the game. He should've been in the game a lot sooner though.
We don't know that they're not comfortable, but that's not the deal -- Sanchez wouldn't know what to think if they pulled him and Tebow ran base offense. I guarantee they've got chunk plays (long passes) built off the wildcat. But the best time to call them is not after Greene gets blow up for 6 yard loss -- because the defense will be thinking "Surely they're not calling another run like that. This will be something different." Better time to call the chunk play is first time out of the gate.
i liked it.. what i didnt like was running the option with Shonn Greene to the outside and Reuland as his lead blocker...there was so much wrong with that play I don't know where to begin. make it mcknight or powell and jason smith as the RB's lead blocker and it's worthy of use.
Yeah. 2nd and 15 isn't the time or place. If that play went forward, they would have kept on going probably. Tebow actually looked like he should have held onto that ball, but then again I had the opportunity to watch the replay from a camera in the sky. Don't think Greene is the best RB to use in sideline to sideline runs though.
Wouldn't mind it. I liked the two plays he was in, but after that 6 yard loss, it was time to come out. TBH, I don't want to see Tebow ever have to read a defense. When he does throw this year, if he does at all, it should just be a bomb down the field. No reads. Just get rid of the ball.
Greene has a terrible skill set for that play -- he's a straight ahead runner. That play is great for a one cut runner. (Not saying it made much of difference there). In theory, Tebow is making the read off of one player, if he crashes down, Tebow keeps, if the player stays home, Tebow gives. There's not time or design to read the whole field. He's not really reading "is the way clear for Greene?" He's not really reading "Which way is best?" He's supposed to trust the numerical advantage at the point of attack based on the read. In that play, the defender had a blocker, but he whiffed.
The tight end missed the block which caused the loss of 6 yards. that block gets made and greene may have had a 1st down.
Just to be clear here....we are ignoring the only time Tebow actually did anything in the game, a 22 yard run, but solely blaming him for a 6 yard loss that Greene had. Classic. I get that it was his decision to hand it off or keep it, but let's be real here. They squandered plenty of chances to use Tebow with Greene and Sanchez reeling from head hits and Tone dropping everything in sight.
At that point in the game it was obvious that Sanchez wasn't moving the team. As much as I don't like the whole Tebow idea YES you leave him in to finish that drive. That was a no brainier I had thought. That's why you have Tebow. We have all seen games when Sanchez is ineffective and he gets no better. It was Tebow time. the Jets traded for him and he starts to get on a roll and they pull him. Bad coaching right there.
I'm really glad they didn't Not that Tebow is a QB but it's tough to make that kind of defensive shift on the fly.
Didn't run wild cat when it mattered. I don't see the point in holding it back. Why bring Tebow if you are not going to at least show the wild cat 10 times a game. The whole idea was Tebow would help with the run game which was horrible yesterday.
why would the jets no huddle - the steelers only have the oldest defense in the league....... sarcasm in case some just dont get it
If Mark gets hit the way he did yesterday, we may see more of this then we can stand....Be carful what you wish for.
I thought when Greene went out and they were being so aggressive with the receivers it would have been useful. Ryan said that since Greene is part of that package it impacted their decision. My thinking is why can't you run it with Powell and McKnight. Also - McKnight is the most explosive offensive weapon .. need to get him involved as an outlet from the backfield.
All Tebow has to do is have one random good drive and the Jets have a QB controversy that will not go away for the rest of the season. This despite the fact that we can look at Tebow's record in the NFL and know that he will have one or two good drives a game in most games and the offense will stop at that. Right now the Jets are on the edge of a precipice and it is a cliffhanger that they have inflicted on themselves.
