There is much more than "some" credit. There's not much bad to take away from the game. It's just that it's one game and it didn't present enough data to put him in the Pro Bowl yet. But, the point of this thread, I think the good start put to rest any notion that he might get benched for performance.
Common sense people, when your QB has time, this is what he can do. If you put any so called elite QB with this OL last year, what do you think would have happened? Never an issue with Sanchez, just the f-ing media and some people on this website not seeing the whole picture. Only 1 game and playing at Steelers next week will not be easy, especially them losing last week. Sanchez should of gotten an award for getting back up off his ass last year after the hits he was taking.
Aww the poor Tebow people are upset that Mark had a great game thus further killing their hopes of Tebow ever being an NFL QB again. These guys are NOT Jets fans. They would have preferred us LOSE and it mean Tebow plays than win the way we did.
Your reading comprehension is poor to non-existent. It's a good thing that the door is slammed shut -- the thread is positive. Meaning, the season will be much more fun if the Jets are winning, there's no sniping or butt-clenching about starting, and Tebow can contribute to a winning effort.
All of these things were always true. The season always would have been more fun if the Jets were winning. There was never any open door for Tebow to be the starting QB. Tebow was always here to help contribute to a winning effort. Just because you guys are just starting realize them doesn't mean something changed.
What "changed" is the first game happend, and Sanchez got off to a great start. That's called new information, even if you expected it. We're going in a circle -- I said that in the first post, you've already said that in this thread. If you think there was never a chance for Sanchez to get benched, no matter how badly he played or how many games the Jets lost, you're mistaken and we disagree. If you're just "predicting" that it was always going to go this well for Sanchez, great -- predictions are the thing you love I guess. I could always tell the Jets did not have any intention of opening up the starting job to competition, nor would Tebow have beat out Sanchez if they had. But that's a different issue from what happens if things unravel -- it's always good to firmly take hold, get some good games on the books. The "door slamming shut" is with fans, pundits, media types, whatever -- all the people that might have been carping for Tebow to start if Sanchez had struggled. He slammed the door shut on the noise. Since you like predictions, make one here -- before the season started, is (1) likely; (2) unlikely; (3) impossible that someone on ESPN would call for Tebow to replace Sanchez if Sanchez struggled statistically and the Jets lost a bunch of games?
Just because your warped perception of the situation changed doesn't mean reality has changed. Welcome to reality.
Can you point to one post that anyone said they are upset for Sanchez? You are a troll . Grow up and man up and stop wanting people to pee on you (please).
His perception of the situation is open-minded, flexible, and realistic. Your view looks closer to a fool trying to sit on a high-horse that doesn't exist.
First off, wanted to say I'm a Tebow fan. Hope the Jets do well this year just because you guys got Tebow. I think Sanchez is a fantastic Qb and has the gifts to be one of the best in the league. He's a much better passer than Tim is right now. Tebow wants to be a starter just like any other backup qb right now. But I'm convinced that Tebow still will be a good teammate to Mark. And having Tebow around could help Mark do better this year. Tebow just seems to have a confidence and swagger about him. On and off the field. That could rub off on Mark. Especially if they have some good chemistry going like it appears. Tebow has other intangibles that probably have a positive effect. Winning attitudes are contagious. Just like losing attitudes are contagious also. You always need a backup, ask the 2011 Colts. And if the normal style of offense is not working on any given sunday, you can make a change and put in Tebow to run his offense.
I don't think the door is shut, but I think that the Jets need to have Tebow concentrate on QBing if he does get asked to take over later in the season. It's early in the season and one game isn't a big enough sample size to say Sanchez closed the door. Sanchez played well, and if he plays like that he should keep his job easily. But that was a low pressure game with Fitzpatrick making it very easy for the Jets and putting no pressure on them. Let's see what happens against the Steelers. Of course if the Jets lose, the inevitable Tebow vs Steelers/Sanchez vs Steelers comparisons will be all over the media. They may even start on Friday or Saturday this week before the game is even played.
Do you think those comparisons would be fair, or the media being lazy, or something else? And I think barring injury the door is closed and locked. Like you said the Jets have Tebow doing a lot right now, not just improving his QB play. If they were serious about him fighting or taking over (again taking over for performance) I think they wouldn't have him in all these roles.
I think the comparisons will come from the usual method of making everything about Tebow to get higher ratings and that they generally like the controversy. Do I think it is fair? Yes and no. It is a relevant comparison to make, but I don't think the outcome should be used as a end-all be-all as to who is a better QB. I think that Sanchez should keep his job unless he sucks or gets injured. He's earned that much at least. If Sanchez starts to really suck for let's say 5-6 games straight, then yeah start Tebow and see what you've got. I don't mean if he doesn't play well, I mean if he stinks it up and they lose because of him (like Orton last year in Denver).
Yeah I stay away from sports channels except for watching games, but I am expecting when flipping channels I will see a lot of highlights from that playoff game. Just like I saw a package of all of Tebow's plays last week and I saw what book Lebron was reading before the finals. Rating Ratings Ratings. Hm interesting. I don't think it's too fair just because home/away. The Ryan Clark factor and it looks like Big Ben has two good knees/leg this year. Just like the Sanchez in 2010 vs the Patriots/ Tebow against the Patriots in 2011 didn't seem relevant to me. It's even hard to use that logic in the same season like last year. Jets dominate Chiefs. Chiefs beat Packers. Jets > Packers? Or 49ers beat the Saints, Alex Smith > Drew Brees. I think this type of argument works much better with longer seasons like basketball length or great. I think they'll ride all the way with Sanchez, even if Sanchez is throwing games away. Ride the year out, good excuse saying he wasn't IT, then try to slide Tebow in there if they can't find anyone else. I don't expect Sanchez to play poorly, so really haven't thought about this scenario too much.
