http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...gm-mark-sanchez-to-play-8090-percent-of-snaps Happy to see Tanny go on the record with a specific, realistic percentage when he didn't have to. Speaks to the legitimacy of intent. I think 6-7 Tebow snaps a game seems optimal and hope it stays closer to 90. Good stuff.
I wasn't aware Tanny was coaching the team. If he gets to decide playing time they should allow him to call plays too.
Yea - to boot he's full of shit 80-90% of the time. I'm not buying it. That's not to say I don't think Tebow will be taking a lot of snaps, I just don't believe what Tanny says.
Thanks for the nonsense. The diplomatic businessman GM is going on record here because he knows the gameplan and is giving reasonable fans some reassurance to brace against the shit storm just before opening day. Nothing else, sorry.
This is not a good thing to lie about. He lies when it benefits him to. How does putting Tebow in half the time after saying this benefit him?
I think its nonsensical for the ringmaster, I mean GM to comment on playing time, the fact he feels compelled to volunteer such info speaks to why Tbow shouldn't have been brought in. This is only the beginning of "when will Tbow start".
Mark Sanchez is our qb hands down. Can't stand anyone that thinks Tebow will start this year sometime
People calling out Tanny on this one make no sense. It has always been speculated and reported by Jets CS that Tebow will get around 15-20 snaps a game. I thought that was a little high. I think it'll be between 10-15 snaps a game and then it'll gradually increase or decrease depending on how it works.
Or maybe he talks to Rex Ryan about game plans. Afterall, he is the GM. It's not like he's deciding, but I'm sure he talks to Rex about his plans to use the most popular QB in the game right now. I would actually believe Tannys words as opposed to a fan on this one. 10-15 snaps a game is where I expected Tebow to be, maybe less than 10 if Jets are winning.
I'm sure that number is a guesstimate based on discussions with the CS. It could move up or down depending on how the game plays out. If Mark cones out hot, we may not see any of Tebow, on the other hand, if Tebow scores on his first 3 snaps, we may see a lot more of him.
Tanny's percentage was nothing but damage control for Rex putting a number to Tebow's snaps. The Jets don't even know how much they will use the guy, and Rex has stated this many times, but the turds in the NFL media keep harping about Rex's ill-conceived 2-20 snaps comment as 'the Jets could use Tebow up to 20 snaps a game'. I can't believe anyone would put any credence to this. It could end up being 99% or 80% and it still wouldn't matter, and Tanny would still have very little say in it. Dude is a PR man and a lawyer.
As long as Mark steps up his game and cuts down on turnovers as he should the ''When will Tebow start'' crowd won't have a leg to stand on. If he takes the leadership role that he should as a 4th year starter and comes out winning games he'll have the trust of his teammates and the CS and he won't be pulled randomly because a bunch of fans are calling for Timmy. Does it put alot of extra pressure on Mark? Of course it does, but most people seemed to agree after last season that this would be his do or die year and that he needed something to light a fire under his ass. Well, Tebow is one big fire under his ass and the pressure is on. If he embraces the challenge and plays well under the pressure he's not going to lose his job. If he falters and doesn't look any better than last year there's a good chance he's not our QB next year, but then, isn't that what most here have agreed should happen anyway?
i hope its closer to 8 or 10. and i hope those snaps come in bunches, not sprinkled in. i dont want to see tebow on the sideline any time its 3rd or 4th and less then 2 to go.
i think it would be foolish to think tebow wont start at sometime. that assumes that: a) sanchez never gets hurt b) our offense/sanches dont struggle c) we win a ton of games with the lack of talent around sanchez, and poor blocking, id think its a stretch to say a or b wont happen
He doesn't even need to lie. He has no way of knowing how many snaps Sanchez or anyone else is actually going to take. What do you think Tanny is going to be watching the games while recording a snap count and calling down to Rex and do his best Christopher Walken impression when he needs more Tebow or something? It was a complete nothing statement that has a possibility of being correct. I don't know how anyone could take anything out of what he said.
That also assumes Tebow is worthy of starting and not absolute garbage at the QB position. That 38% completion percentage vs 2nd and 3rd string is extremely impressive...
if sanchez plays 5 or 6 straight games poorly and we win 1 ro 2 of those no chance tebow doesnt take over
