You all are probably sick of my weekly thread, but don't worry...preseason is almost over. :)

    Offense

    - Chad is either tentative about throwing the ball deep, or there are no deep routes being called. Passing scheme seems to be all dink and dunk, with alot of motion and shifting before snap. Things did open up slightly late in the 2nd quarter, though. He did make a nice 20+ yard pass to McCareins right in the face of a blitz. Still inconsistent putting zip on the ball, as he lofted one to Coles and nearly got him decapitated.

    - Offense looks sloppy/discoordinated. Chad had to call a TO because of some issue with Jolley. Stupid penalties (2 false starts on D'Brick, unnecessary roughness on Jolley).

    - Barlow is not making a very good first impression. Slow to hitting the hole and fumbled. After his fumble, Mangini hasn't put him back in the game since. Blaylock seemed to play with more power than he did.

    - Poor pass protection by Blaylock. Pennington picked up the blitz on their first drive, but Blaylock blew his assignment, allowing our fragile QB to get decked. Aside from that, he's been playing very well. Running with power and showing some shiftiness in open space. Looks like a different RB since the first game. Still doesn't seem like a true starter though.

    - D'Brick having a so-so game. Had trouble with penalties, but was decent in blocking for the most part...both in run and pass. Adrian Jones is HORRIBLE. Got beat easily on a outside passrush and let a sack happen, which ultimately killed the drive and ended the half.

    Defense

    - Besides one explosive play where D-Rob penetrated the O-Line and tackled the RB for a loss, he's been pushed back fairly often. Run defense noticeably drops when he's in the game.

    - Oelhoffen played some NT. Has made an impact at the position, defending the run well and knocking down a pass. I prefer him over D-Rob to play NT.

    - David Ball has been looking good and playing with lotsa hustle. He showed awareness and solid tackling.

    - Pass rush has been pathetic. Not much blitzing going on either. 3rd and 11, Jets only sent 3 DL after Manning.

    - Justin Miller defended the deep ball perfectly against Toomer. He can also bring a monster hit. He's been jarring offensive players all day. Erik Coleman is finally back, but not that good of a showing. He got a gift interception from Manning, but botched a tackle on Shockey. Pass coverage has been inconsistent. Dyson got beat early in the first quarter and late in the 2nd.

    - Vilma has made a couple nice plays both in the 1st and 2nd quarter. Still doesn't look as effective as he was last year though.

    Misc
    - Nugent has no leg...he's awful on kickoffs and couldn't convert a 40 yard FG. Yeah, yeah, it's only preseason, but he has yet to impress.
    - Punt and Kick coverage has been sick. The Jets were hounding down the returners quickly and efficiently. Showed good discipline and solid tackling.
    - Punt blocking crew almost got one.
    - No need to worry about Graham this week, Statjeff! He woulda dropped one on the 2 yard line if Brad Smith pinky toe didn't touch the goalline.
    - CowboyUp is full of it. He claimed Clemens was starting according to his "sources".
    - Ian Eagle sometimes credits the wrong defenders making plays.

The Giants have a very talented team and our D played very well. You have to be happy with the Jets secondary. The O on the other hand is a mess and it starts with the QB. Pennington is the only Jet QB to put up a donut in preseason. Not impressive.

Tough first half. Team had some nice plays on both sides of the ball though.

Too much trash talk, not enough big plays.

chris baker better step it up he has given up on WAY to many plays, I have focused on him this game and this is really pissing me off---And I really like him....And miller the coach needs to beat his A.. there IS NO NEED FOR THAT. Sorry he is not that good he could be replaced. I would love it if Ellis beats the piss out of Diehl, he has gotten away with some cheap shots.

Some mistakes, but the defense is holding a very good offensive team to only one score, at the hands of a stupid penalty by JMill.

Good half so far, no one is expecting this team to win every game this year, but they do seem to be improving. Their defense has definitly shown me something today. The pass protection for Chad has been weak, and has limited the downfield passing game.

Chad looks good out of the gun though, I like that new formation.

I wish I could watch this game. The stats obviously don't tell the entire story here as Chad has over 100 yards on 10 completetions but all of you are saying he looks horrible out there...

I hope NFL network replays this game.

The D has played well, but the offense needs to pick up the slack. Why does that sound so familiar?

In his defense... Barlow only practiced once with us this week... he is not prone to fumbling. He will need more time with the team to make an impact.

The whole offense looks scared to attack anything... ultra-tentative.

The 2005 2nd round is the worst looking group of guys on the field:

Miller (taunting? do you really need to be told thats a 15 yarder?)
Jolley (can't play. can't act right. can get waived)
Nugent (can't rely on him over 35 yards)

he does not belong as the starter, let alone on the roster.

the only guys who should be there are clemmins, bolly, and brad smith.

too bad not enough people are still failing to realize that 2002 isn't going to occur again.:shit:

It's Clemens. I know it isn't a typo, because you've spelled his name incorrectly the same way in other threads as well. It'd be nice if you learned something about the team other than how much Chad sucks.

You have so many facts wrong here.... rewrite it after you replay the game. i don't mean to be... critical, but you really need to watch a replay of this game.

I should have read your post more thoroughly. On rereading it, you make some good points.

I thought DRob held ground pretty well last night... I have it TIVO'd, I'll look at it again.

I made a mistake on Nugent's FG attempt my self... I thought it was short, but it hit the goalpost, but it was a 49 yard attempt, not a 40. It would have been nice if they had showed a replay... what was up with that? And the announcers never said it hit the goal post either... poor job.

The reason the coverage teams are all over the KO returners is because Nugent gets reall good hang times... I think your critisisms of Nugent were off the mark. Graham's ahng times a really excellent... makes it much easier on the coverage teams.

Many posts crticing Chad's abilities and his arm are way off the mark as far as what I can see when he plays.

    2 points:

Giants have an excellent defense. Give credit where it is due. They are very talented with many disruptors. Chad was lucky to escape with only a few bruises and a battered ego.

Chad is deffinately making progress. After 2 major shoulder surgeries and not playing since the 1st quarter of the Tampa game, what can one expect?? Give the guy some slack and let him work it out. He has the ability and the smarts; just needs to work off the rust.
