    FWIW.

Free agent Plaxico Burress isn't giving up hope of re-signing with the Jets.

The NY Daily News has repeatedly reported that the Jets have "no interest" in re-signing Plax, but he's still holding out hope. "I understand they are going with young guys they want to groom and have long-term goals," Burress said. "I’m not a long-term solution. One year, maybe two." Plax "believe(s)" he's still going to catch on this year, and is willing to play for the NFL minimum.

This would be great...BUT, he was at the core of the problem in the locker room last year.

    So no thanks.

i believe its a case of reading between the lines.

Oh and Plax, of course you do. You are just desperate for somebody to give you a shot. This is the 5th time its been announced he wants to play for somebody.

Eagles, Giants, Panthers, Patriots and now the Jets.

Yeah I don't think it's exactly ever been confirmed, just a suspicion held by many. I wouldn't be that opposed to signing him for the vet minimum but I'm honestly not sure I care one way or the other. I'll just trust the staff on what they do for this one because they probably know if he was a negative influence or not (hopefully).

    Yeah

Not what he was saying in Feb. Now that he's unemployed, he's desperate.

Would be a great addition, but I doubt it happens. Plax would help this team whether some people care to admit it to themselves or not. In between the 20's? No, not much, but inside the 20's? A lot. HE is the reason Sanchez's redzone numbers went up last year. Eight TD's and double coverage.

They also threw to him all the time, so he wasn't the most efficient.

That said, he was a huge part of our red zone success. Do I want him back? Not really, there's a reason he's still out there and a reason the Jets don't want him back.

Plax just wants a job. He's tried to link himself with half the NFL at this point.

Yes, as a red zone threat only. There's a reason we were top in Rz proficiency

At the end of the season, I was like fuck Plax... After seeing how bad we were in RedZone this preseason and considering vet minimun/depth factor, I say what the hell, Why not! LOL

For an old player who had spent the past two years in prison, Plax really wasn't so awful last year. The Jets had unrealistic expectations for him, at this stage in his career he was never going to step into the role that Braylon Edwards had played for us. He's still a very useful redzone tool, though.

I don't think that the Jets should bring him back -- that bridge certainly seems burned -- but some NFL team should definitely be able to find a use for him.
