I would absolutely have to agree with this. While I do like McElroy as a QB, Tebow has had some success. Either way, I honestly think we would be f***ed, but I think Tebow gives you a better chance at winning as long as you play to his strengths.
He's more accurate than Tebow (faint praise,) but he has the weakest arm of any Jets QB I can remember. I really wish that people would stop lionizing McElroy based on 60 decent attempts in last year's preseason. He wasn't a great college player, and he doesn't have the physical tools to change that on the NFL level.
The season is headed down the toilet with Sanchez so what's the difference? If the offense can't score the defense won't win enough games for it to matter.
Well then I would like to know how teams have performed in the regular season over the past 50 years when their 3rd string QB scored 4 touchdowns in the final game. And I would base my expectations for the entire season on that.
I don't like any of the QB options on our team. Just look at the QBs in our division. At best Sanchez is the 7th best QB in our division. I would love to bring in a vet that could take over and save the season if Sanchez plays like Sanchez again this year. if Garrard or Moore or cut either would be a substantial upgrade over any of our 3 stooges. I would love to see us sign a veteran to start as the number 2. realistically Tebow is not a number 2 he is simply a wildcat/gimmick player not a viable QB alternative along with being one of the few QBs in the league that can make bolster Sanchez's fragile ego by making Sanchez look good in comparison.
This is a complicated question... If its what I would do... Tebow is not even on the team. If it what Rex and Tanny and Sparano will do... then I think more information is needed. If Sanchez (God forbid) went down very early in the season, then the team would likely get a veteran in just because. Tebow would get a few starts and then the team would probably start looking at McElroy and the veteran and one or the other would probably be starting over Tebow before the season is over. If Sanchez (God forbid) went down very late in the season, then they would just stick with Tebow. If Sanchez (God forbid) went down midseason, Tebow starts. If the team record is a losing record, McElroy gets some time before the season is over.
How can the majority NOT vote for Tebow? I dislike him personally and I know he can't run a pro-style offense (spread!) but to try and salvage the season we can't turn to McElroy or sign a random vet...
If the Jets were to do what Denver did last year and switch to Tebow's offense, Tebow. If they remained hell bent on playing him under center, McElroy with Tebow sprinkled in like they'll do with Sanchez. Would be smarter to go with Option A.
I'm sorry if someone else has already made this connection but it didn't click in my mind until just now... What if Woody Johnson didn't push the Jets to acquire Tebow beacause he wanted to fill the seats? What if Woody Johnson pushed the Jets to acquire Tebow because of what he means to the conservative community? Seriously, Woody Johnson's twitter account is a retweeting of all things Mitt Romney... what if Woody wants Tebow to be the face of the franchise not for ticket sales but for organizational identity? If this conspiracy I've laid out has any truth to it whatsoever the Jets are completely and utterly hosed.
Why wasn't MCelroy backup anyways? I thought he was better then that, even giving Sanchez a run? Must of heard wrong.
