Anyone catch his comments on PTI on ESPN today? I am paraphrasing but its close " he thinks that Mcelroy could take a majority of snaps this year over Sanchez or Tebow" what???????? Edited*** for more accuracy (staffjeff below has a clearer quote...still Peter King is bat **** crazy)
He must believe that Sanchez is going to get replaced over the ineffectiveness of the offense and that the Jets won't use Tebow for more than a game or two, leaving the rest of the season in McElroys hands. His scenario is the "Jets go 4-12" one.
They tried to kill him all offseason and preseason. But Mark would not go down without a fight. Now they have to predict an injury for Tebow to be number one behind center.
That may be the most retarded thing I've heard this season. I really hope he didn't make himself look THAT bad.
No, that's not what he said. What he said was that he "thinks there's a chance" that McElroy will take more snaps under center than Tebow will, and that "because Sanchez and Tebow are so inaccurate" that "it could come to the point that McElroy starts multiple games for the Jets." First of all, there were about 17 weasel words in his statement (thinks there's a chance, could happen) so it's completely meaningless. Secondly, it wouldn't surprise me at all that McElroy could take more snaps under center than Tebow, since Tebow has shown no evidence this preseason that he can be an NFL quarterback playing under center. Even if they were going to try to run a "normal" offense with him, it would be heavily shotgun-oriented. There is of course (barring injury) ZERO chance that McElroy takes anywhere near as many snaps as Sanchez (under center or not), and even King isn't stupid enough to think that. You didn't even mention, however, what makes King a gigantic POS. Literally 30 seconds before he made the comments about the Jets he talked at length about how in the NFL nowadays ANY team can get hot at the right time and get all the way to the Super Bowl. Yet, when Kornheiser noted that he predicted that the Jets wouldn't make the playoffs he was openly scornful that anyone could ever think that they could. As King himself said, 10 of the last 15 years a team that was .500 or lower made the Super Bowl the following year - the idea that there is no possible chance that the 8-8 Jets could even make the playoffs this year is complete utter bullshit, and Peter King can stick it where the sun don't shine.
I just love the thread title! Let the haters keep hating, when the Jets kick ass this season it will make the backpedal so much more enjoyable. I think what annoys me like other people is that you think that you would at least get some good insight a decent amount of the time. Instead its like for every 1 minute of good analysis its 59 minutes of complete crap.
Pats starting offense generated 7 total points this pre-season, have questions at running back ,and offensive line....they will also go 4-12 because pre-season is a 100% tell on the regular season.
The difference is that the Pats offense is a proved itself as one of the best in the league. They don't need to show up in preseason. The Jets offense struggled last year and doesn't look any better this year.
Who's this "they" you talk about? This thread is about Peter King saying McElroy, not Tebow, will be taking the majority of snaps under center this season.
Is this the same guy picking denver to reach the SB? Peyton had vastly superior rosters 90% of his career in Indy and could only make 2, now off of major surgery missing a season in a new place w/ new players h'es going to take Denver to the SB?
