We've seen had coaches lose teams many times, just like Rex did last year. Do they ever get that team back once they do lose them? My biggest fear this season is the team imploding from within due to Rex's coaching and management styles. Personally, I think his window here in NY has closed tight on him, and this season is gonna expose a team in total disarray. At least I fear that happening. Anyone else have that feeling? I just hope Woody sees what has happened to the team if that happens, and cleans house from Tanny on down. I could end up totally wrong and we have a killer season, and nobody would be happier than I. But I don't think I am, and my fears are well founded. Guess we will see, and I hope I am dead wrong....
Tom Coughlin has lost his team multiple times. people forget all the turmoil the Giants were going through around this time a year ago. In 2010 multiple players publicly stated they would rather play for Rex, they had osi faking injuries, Jacobs whining about his deal, Eli coming off 25 INTs and having a poor preseason,...
Anything the media reports about the morale of the locker room is complete speculation. Nobody knows what's going on in there. After 6 months of hearing how they can't function as a team, I got a feeling it will only bring them closer together.
I don't think Rex lost the team. Rex was blind to the disputes between players on the team which is bad but not the same as losing the team. The problems were between the players not rex and the players. Guys still like playing for him and at least one side of the ball they still believe if they follow his plan they will be successful. If Rex fails it will be due to his lack of knowledge or focus on getting things right on the offensive side of the ball. Rex does have a little of his father in him in that his defense is his baby and that leads to neglect on the offensive side. That has to change.
My understanding was that the players were attempting (failing) to resolve the issues amongst themselves out of respect for Rex...
this - i have never such constantly negative press as the Jets seem to attract from the local and national media - 95% of which appears to be total crap.
Hopefully, Woody doesn't fire him if he doesn't see the light right away  This will prob be the hardest, transition for Rex, the understanding of an offense and his desire to help improve it.
Its encouraging to see people disagree with me, but I think its worse in that locker room than some of you may suspect. The addition of Tebow will split this club quickly if things go south early, which from the looks of the first 3rd of the season, it very well may. If Rex wasn't aware of the rift, then that's easily as bad as losing them. I don't know, I just think we could be in trouble with this current staff. This year is certainly pivotal to Rex, Tanny and Co.
Andy Reid has also "lost" the Eagles more times than you can count, but it hasn't stopped them from returning to the playoffs over and over.
except there is nothing to support anything you just posted. people are obviously discussing what is reality not your made up scenario which is nothing more than your own fears and insecurities.
What? Rex lost the team...how on earth did you come to that conclusion? Rex probably has more player support than any other coach in football. Ridiculous assertion.
He may have lost some connection to the offense, but I don't think he lost the respect. I think he was so divorced from the offense last season, they acted out against schotty and Rex didn't even enter the equation. The assistant mgr. was the total boss, because the manager was always hanging out in another department and only came around to make speeches and pat backs, Schotty handled the operation. Rex has said since day one of the offseason that he isn't going to let that happen again, so I give him the benefit of a doubt.
That's like saying you don't understand why people look at a 350 pound braless woman in a purple moo-moo. You can't help looking at a freak show.
