I certainly think this team has the potential to be better than they think, and I cannot see Tebow taking Sanchez's job, but they could just as easily end up with a record like this. I think this year will say a lot about our coaching, good or ill.
the guys that picked us to go 6-10 is justified based on how the offense looked for the most part in pre season. it's just up to the Jets to prove them wrong.
The fact that certain "experts" are claiming that Tebow will be the starter by week 8 is embarrassing. Sanchez has been good. He will only get better as this offense matures.
It's the easy path to avoid actually analyzing an extra team. I'd gamble that some of these jerks will only pay attention to 8 teams in terms of understanding what makes them tick, and then they take the easy route with the other 24. The Jets are one of the outlier teams that are impossible to predict, so the lazier of the 'experts' go default with the Tebow nonsense and pick a non-committal number like 8-8. Which means that turds like Bucky Brooks take for granted how awesome of a job they have, or they have something personal going on that takes away from that job.
Probably the same assessment they gave San Francisco last year. OK defense but not good enough to carry this team. Offense lack weapons. 6-10 or 8-8 best case. Well go figure.
I'm really high on the defense this year. I don't get anyone thinking it's worse or not what it was. The two safeties will make a huge difference. Ellis looked like a beast-in-waiting the other night, and Rex can rotate him with P'ouha for fresh legs. Two edge rushers. Best CB tandem in the league. I think the Jets are going to remain relevant this based on defense alone. If the offense can just be respectable and protect the ball, which seems likely.
I agree w/ you, I think this will be our best D since 2009 and that alone will make us a contender for postseason. I think the O will be much better than they have shown but if not all they really have to do is cut down on TOs and we'll win 9-10 games.
My only reservation, as I said in another thread, is that what we have seen from the defense has been as vanilla as the offense has been. Rex likes to use a lot of exotic looks. We really did not see a lot of that in any of the preseason games. There's a big margin for error for the young guys in that respect, like Coples, Ellis and MoWilk. Po'uha and Devito know that stuff from experience, which is why they are likely to get most of the action early, and neither of them are as talented as these young guys, so I'm erring on the side of caution in terms of expectations for the defense. But the secondary could save the early struggles. Got my fingers crossed on that one.
 at Heath Evans. I was also surprised to see how clueless Steve Young was of the Jets situation on ESPN. We'll see what this team looks like come the regular season.
^LOL. Knock it off. It's like you darkside clowns just find a statistic and repeat it over and over again. How about you actually talk about the individual players and how they played instead of hunting for stats in the preseason. What a joke. As soon as these "experts" mention Tebow as a reason for failure they instantly lose all credibility. The only weakness we really have now is the receiving unit, which can be overcome by good line play and QB play. Hopefully this happens, but predicting 6-10 with an schedule this easy is silly.
Thank you. Was telling some clown on here he was a Giants fan and they disagreed. People I went to school with knew him from classes and told me this... Schein is calling it like it is...the defense this year is better than any defense Rex has had with the Jets...that alone will win 9 games minimum. Sanchez just needs to eliminate the demoralizing pick 6s when the momentum is rolling.
I think it is clownish to suggest the receivers are the only problem the Jets have. As far as Qb play is concerned, Tebow is part of the problem. Posters here who know how the game is played have been wondering since the Tebow trade was announced how the Jets were going to do all of bring in a new offense with a new OC, get Sanchez to work with some new receivers, improve the OL play with a new line coach, AND not only incorporate plays for Tebow but get him up to speed while allowing SOME practice and reps for the third string Qb (who technically I don't even know is McElroy, which in turn means how are the Jets going to determine who their third string QB is?). It didn't add up before, and it still doesn't, and meanwhile the Jets have not scored a single TD in three games. Only weakness is the receivers? That's at the level of a three ring circus, and even the Big Apple Circus for their clowns only had one. You're an often decent poster, but you need to put down your rose colored glasses long enough to at least not be personally pissed off at the fans here, fans who are at least just as much fans as you are, who have questions about the Jets and where they are right now.
Fair enough but as far the O line goes I'm really not all that worried. Having a healthy line and no Wayne Hunter should go a long way. The amount of pressures coming from that side of the line really seemed to get into Mark's head. Not that I'm making excuses for him but I really think if Mark is given time and he starts to trust his line more he will play much better than he did at the end of last season. I'm also worried about our run game. Its hard to be a ground and pound offense that doesn't pound the rock better than most in the league. I really hope Tebow in the wildcat or at HB can help fix that.
jet fans must see the handwriting on the wall the jets in plain words.JUST STINK.IT'S TIME FOR A NEW ADMINISTRATION.
There's 2 ways to criticize things. 1. Assess the situation, list the facts, and explain what you saw and what it means. 2. Blindly attack, curse players out, and just say the team stinks and call it a day like the guy right above this post. That's the lazy, angry, simpleton method and quite often it demonstrates pitiful knowledge of the game of football. One of the options promotes productive conversation while the other just leads to mud slinging. I keep getting accused of being a homer because I'm positive, but I'm also fair with my analysis. I was never a guy that backed Hunter and wanted him to start. I never said Conelly was great or that the team is going 16-0. I try to look at things for what they are, from a football standpoint. People are dismissing them as no chance of making the playoffs, which is silly. It's easy to see the score and stats and just say the team sucks. All I've been trying to say is its not as bad as most fans and reporters are saying. Our top 3 receivers were out 2 of 3 preseason games, and our line is finally looking somewhat stable. That part is obvious. People just don't ever look at the full picture before judging a player. You are definitely one of the more productive guys and you fall into category 1 because you are usually fair, although negative leaning. Tebow adds up perfectly for people that know the wildcat. People can't seem to get past the vast Woody Johnson conspiracy to cripple the team but sell seats. But yeah, comments like one above this show complete idiocy and clearly indicative of somebody with a bug up their ass that just likes to complain and whine about everything. Those are the types I call out. Fair unbiased analysis is fine with me, but type #2 are the worst type of fans a franchise could ever have and they reflect poorly on not only the fan base but the Jets organization as a whole.
I have no problem with your optimism in general, and just becuase I don't always make comments doesn't mean I usually disagree with you. I also get frustrated as you have no doubt seen when we are on the same "side" aboout this or that player when that player gets unfairly criticized. My only suggestion is really two sides of the same one, which is don't lump in together all those who question the team, meaning point out negative comments that have no substance, but if you wish to address those that in fact do have substantive arguments, address them in substance, and second is don't take it personally
My brain tells me 7-9, 8-8 and my heart tells me 10-6, maybe 11-5. If the defense stays healthy and the offense reaches its ceiling of mediocre, 10-6 or 11-5 is definitely possible. If not, 7-9 or 8-8 is there for our taking, maybe even 6-10.
