the giants won 2 super bowls in 4 years. we got creamed by them, the eagles, lost almost all our games with the steelers, and almost all our games in the last ten years with the pats. so, are you really satisfied with watching all that? :sad:

The question all summer out of New York was: how long before Tim Tebow steals the starting job from Mark Sanchez? But maybe we're looking at the wrong former national champion QB out of the SEC. After all, neither Sanchez nor Tebow have proven in their careers that they can consistently pass the ball at a championship level. And each appears to have regressed badly through two preseason games. The offensive numbers are just that: offensive. Gang Green has scored just 9 points in two games, and averaged 160.5 YPG -- each easily the worst in the NFL through two preseason games. Tebow has completed just 9 of 22 passes with a 35.4 rating. Sanchez has been much more accurate (13 of 17), but for a mere 80 yards (4.7 YPA) with a sub-standard 60.9 passer rating. Both entered camp with plenty of question marks. Both have created even more in the preseason. McElroy might prove the best option on the team. Hey, stranger things have happened. He was fairly productive for perennial power Alabama, guiding the school to a national title in 2009 while posting impressive career numbers (8.6 YPA, 39 TD, 10 INT). I don't see how the Tanny defenders can defend the Jets trading for Tebow. I have not been a Tanny fan for awhile, but any doubts about how bad he is, or perhaps more precisely how worthless he is, were eliminated right there. Sure I also happen to believe it was Woody who was behind that, but that's the whole point - even Woody feels no reason to defer to Tanny. Why should he? He's a contract guy, not a football guy. So, Tanny is not strong enough to either stand up to Woody or be respected enough by Woody to defer to him. So, what good is Tanny? Of course the third alternative is that Tanny was all in on the Tebow trade. In that case, see above.
^Tebow was brought in for special packages and to boost the running game. He wasn't just brought in to backup Sanchez, but since he can fill that role, why not? I didn't like the trade at first, but we've already seen him impact the rushing game. It was Sparano (Mr. Wildcat himself) that wanted Tebow.
Tebow was brought in to boost ticket sales and so the Jets wouldn't look completely pitiful if the team bombed out this season and Sanchez needed to be replaced. Bringing him in was one of the weakest possible moves the Jets could make and tipped their hand as to where they saw the season likely heading this year. The wildcat will be good for exactly nothing against the Patriots and in that context there was no reason to bring it in. Having it around just complicates the Jets ability to maybe improve the main offense.
Problem is they brought Tebow in thinking they could get a 3 position player QB/RB/TE for the price of 1.
We've already seen the Jets go two games scoring a grand total of 3 FG's. I don;t know what you are seeing, but I would guess the world would look different through rose colored glasses.
The most logical solution would be to let Tanny handle the financial side, and bring in a real football guy to make the personnel evaluations and decisions.
So Tebow didn't have a bunch of 10-14 yard runs in those few games? Pay attention to the players, not the stats. Each time I saw Tebow bust one of those big runs, I said to myself "That's the reason we got him!". I can't wait to see him in our WC packages. Claiming Tebow was brought in just for sales in case we suck this year is beyond absurd. We know he's not the best passer, but our run game needed a boost and he can handle that job. At least my glasses can see what's going on. Your glasses have blinders on them and can't look beyond $$$ and see football.
Rex is a football guy, but not a front office guy. He isn't Parcells. We need a front office executive with a more robust resume in scouting and talent evaluation, to add to Tanny's number crunching skills.

That's assuming you buy into the medias theory of the fix being in. If you buy into the theory that the Jets saw Tebow as another weapon to add an extra dynamic to the offense, then this was a very good move. Time will tell.
Let's operate on the theory that Woody actually is behind all the big splash back page moves the Jets make in order to generate headlines and drown out the Giants in the media... if this is the case I'll start by saying we're fucked from the get go. With that said, who in the NFL would do a better job of keeping the cap in check under scenario so as not to sink the entire team with bad contracts? As much as this team makes me scream and shout... I'm quite happy at least having a reasonable chance at the playoffs every year... which has generally been the case under Mike T so far.
as a seahawk fan, i can see you saying stick with travaris jackson, and the heck with that rookie wilson. besides, we got matt flynn who won at green bay last year as our #2.
