The Jets also weren't going to replace Brian Schottenheimer, that didn't work out to well for Schotty. Hunter's days in green are limited.
who said that? Hunter will be on the roster no doubt. Nobody is taking him. But it would drive up the price of the prospective replacement in a trade.
Right tackle Bobby Massie was right there for them to select in the 3rd round but they took LB Demario Davis instead. Somebody explain the logic of that to me please?
Jets LB group is too slow. From the Raiders/Eagles games it highlighted what a struggle it was for the Jets D to set the edge. They can do a solid job stopping the runs up the middle though. Also, Brady easily marched up & down the field in hurry up. Jets need more 2-way players if they want their D to make big time stops in those situations. Not every offense is gonna just wait around for the D to bring in all their substitutions every play. Also, the Jets are going to lose 2 of their starting LB next season. Now add onto that the realistic possibility that the safeties get injured and the very late safeties chosen in this draft aren't starter material. Makes sense to plug in a LB now who can have some experience & be a potential starter next season. Now what will always be a head scratcher to me, is the Tebow trade. 4th rounder for a backup qb to run the wildcat when they had glaring needs elsewhere.
explanation for the tebow trade: they needed a backup qb to light a fire under sanchez, and wanted a guy with experience in case sanchez gets injured, which is a distinct possibility with the turnstile at right tackle. i would have gone with mc elhroy and sims as numbers 2 and 3, as long as we're running ground & pound . you don't need johnny unitas back there to handoff the ball. they could have then used those two picks on both o-line and/or wide receiver picks.
For a number of reasons they can't say that they are trying to replace him. For one thing, they have to keep their cards hidden, even if it's pretty obvious what their cards are. Also, they don't want to trash Wayne - he is a human being with feelings and apparently he's a good guy who is hard working. He's just not very good at what he does. Would any of us want our boss to publicly trash us if we weren't doing a good job at work? So lets not trash Wayne here - he sucks as an NFL tackle, but that's not so important. I would rather trash Holmes for being a jerk or other players for more important offenses such as killing people while drunk driving, beating up their girlfriends, wives, etc.
you may be right, but tebow had better results in denver. and, he does fit the ground-n-pound offensive plan better.
Was Tebow brought here to fill a need at RB or QB, 2 for the price of 1 or was he brought here for the media hype to sell tickets?
I have faith in Greene and I think McKnight is ready to step up. Havebt seen enough of Powell. I just would have added another RB to the mix.
