I guess you ignored the part about "RG of the future"? It's amazing what can happen when you give a project player from a small school a full NFL offseason, isn't it?
great job LTJF.....ducasse should put u on his payroll..... if there is a position along the OL where u can "hide" someone - its RG. unfortunately the jets are in NO position to hide anyone with the stellar play at RT. me thinks the void at RT has kept the jets from already moving on from moore. maybe we do in fact have starter material in ducasse at the guard position. we'll see. a second round pick is a little juicy for a guard but not too bad.
There is a reason you move the OLs from outside in; to play OT, you need to have a bit of strength, but you need very quick feet and tons of agility, and good balance OGs require a lot of physical strength; and good footwork, but not quick feet like OTs do. Now, the question boils down to whether WFH possesses required strength to play inside. He obviously does not have a good balance nor does he have necessary agility. To that end, I would have to say NO. If wet-behind-the-ear rookie can push him off like a rag doll, seasoned 3Ts will destroy him any time of the game. And what's worse is that, if the OL gives up the pressure up the middle, the QB has nowhere to go. When the rushers come fast from the edge, the QB has to step UP. (This means, Slauson, Moore and Mangold wasn't too spectacular in their protection either as they failed to secure the pocket area.) Now, with WFH at LG/RG? Sanchez will have to bail on his way out to drop back, not even able to set his feet.
If anything I think they may ride with Moore for this season. They should definitely try out Slausen at RT.
Nonsense......if the potential is high it does not matter if it is 3rd or 4th or even 5th if you get a few great years after that
I think Vlad is going to be playing one of the guard positions for the Jets for a long time. I think they should keep Moore for one more year, especially with the issues at RT. At this point they need to explore every single option for replacing Hunter. Free agents, trades, Slauson, Howard, etc...
I like to see it written down like that. I've been impressed with Vlad so far even though he has done it against backups. Besides 1 or 2 plays he really hasn't made any mental mistakes and hasn't given up a sack yet. He's been very physical and a couple of times really just plowed through his man. He looks like he finally understands whats going on. I'd be comfortable with him playing with the starters if Moore or Slauson have to come out. I don't want to see him at RT even though he probably can't do any worse than Hunter but he would be a serviceable guard and he could still improve.
I think Moore if he wants to come back next year he should come back as a backup. He has the experience to help guys like Vlad and Slauson and hopefully whoever else we draft. Then he can come in if need be not beat up from starting week to week
