Interesting nugget on how Mangini challenged Rhodes to be a leader. No NY scribes have mentioned that, to my knowledge. And if you watch as time expires in the game vs. Washington, Rhodes was next to Mangini seemingly congratulating him on his first win. Even got Mangini to smile. Hope it's a relationship that will pay dividends.

He has a great football talk show on Sirius Radio. He is very good and he always knows what he's talking about.

Sounds to me like there's too much good going on in Hofstra for the Jets to run a "productive" 4-12 season.

He's the football guy for SNY now. I am very happy with that.

Definitely the most positive "the Jets are gonna suck this year" article I've read this offseason. :)

OK, so we like everything but the Kevan Barlow deal — which we loathe. Barlow, in theory, is the opposite of everything I just wrote and what Mangini and Tannenbaum are trying to do. Barlow has three years and more than 10 million left on his horrible contract that rightfully helped cost the old guard in San Francisco their jobs. Barlow had knee surgery in the off-season and feuded with players and coaches during his time in San Fran. The offensively challenged Niners couldn't wait to get rid of him. Dealing a 4th rounder for the running back was a very poor move. -- schein

...couldnt agree more, i didnt realize how bad his contract was, and after this hitler comments, this is the first mistake tannebaum has made. Albeit he was in a tough spot with the RBBC but i didnt like the trade than, and i detest it now. Im officially on the blaylock for starter bandwagon

If Barlow turns out to be a serious problem, we cut him with no penalty. This is what I think some people are missing. We have made NO commitment to him. The biggest hit would be losing that 4th rounder. Nothing to stress over, IMO.

If Ellis can get 8 sacks, much less 10 sacks in a 3-4 i'd be one happy ass Jets fan.

He throws a jab at the new coaching staff for the alphabetical order depth chart...then goes on to praise what they are doing.

Thats fair journalism...something the local guys should read to help them adjust to all the cruelty.

I d have a lot of respect for Schein. He used to have a sports talk show out of Syracuse years ago. He always seems fair in his comments/reports.

    Potential...pro bowler

I liked that writeup as well. I am still a believer that we can play the darkhorse this year, but we need to somehow win a few TOUGH games early in the season before we reach the 2nd half the schedule, which is far easier then the 1st.

Good write-up. The way he writes it, it makes me think why cant we go to the playoffs this year. However, everything that he said should have a ? next to it
