Dude 3 dropbacks in the 1st preseason game......I mean come on if you cant see that the season is over and theres no point in them even playing any games by now well then you must not know football..... ....
Hey man, we have to come to terms with the fact that there are football experts in this world that cannot even form complete sentences and also have so much time on their hands that they can fail at forming complete sentences all day long. This is a changing world. Adjust, my friend.
I'm willing to bet Bray-bray has picked up the herpes from all the manlove he gets on this board. I'm glad he won't be spreading it around the clubhouse. Seriously, I was disappointed we didn't sign him last year, but it was no where near the great disappointment you guys make it out to be. When we dumped Chad for the old fart, THAT was disappointment. When we let Coles go to the skins, and then when we traded Santana to get Coles back, when we let Farrior go, watching Vilma walk for peanuts..........THOSE were disappointments. My disappointment with the Braylon situation is somewhere below those of LaMont Jordan, Leon Washington, and Randy Thomas.
I wouldn't say I classify jets fans by their opinions, but it's fairly obvious to see when someone actually knows football or not. Reading it over again, it does seem somewhat laughable, but if you ask a knowledgeable Jet fan who they would rather have had, I would say that most would pick Edwards. There would be others who come up with logical reasons as to why they would take Holmes, but for the most part Edwards. If you asked someone who just decides to watch the Jets on game day or tons of espn, they would probably take Holmes, just like thosw same people would probably take Tebow over Sanchez. It's the sexier pick us what I probably should have said.
Of course he wanted a paycheck, but I would have felt better giving him a paycheck over Holmes. Edwards ALWAYS played hard even when he wasn't getting the ball, and that's the attitude we need on this team. Holmes, who is talented as hell, doesn't have that attitude and instead becomes petulant when he's not getting the ball. One leaping catch doesn't tell you anything, you're write BUT the fact that he's still capable of plays like that is something that we could use. It would have been a low risk high reward move in my opinion. I love that we drafted Stephen Hill, but I honestly would like to have more depth behind him. I don't think that's asking for much. How come we would give CHAZ SCHILENS who is ALWAYS injured a contract, but we can't even bring Braylon in? It just doesn't make much sense. The only thing that keeps my mind at peace is that I think Sanchez is at the level where he'll start making the players around him better and if that's the case I hope we can see some big things between him and Hill.
Bray fit this team and felt like a real Jet. Problem was that he got in trouble and it cost him a stay with the team.
as much as i wanted him back last offseason, he sucked with the niners and they eventually cut him who were already thin at WR.
I never understood Tannys logic regarding Braylon. He supposedly let Braylon walk because of off field issues, but then they turn around and sign a guy that was just released from jail 2 months before? As for Holmes I think he's the better receiver than Braylon. But those two together (with Cothcery in the slot) was beautiful. The Jets should have signed Braylon instead of Schillens but it is what it is. We now have a young receiving core and between Hill, Turner and Schillens one of them has to emerge as a legit weapon (looking at Turner)
That's a good point. It's time for Sanchez to step it up and make the players (especially the receivers) around him better.
I'm happy for Bray. He loved the Jets and they let him Walk. Just like a few other good players that loved playing here. I still wear his Jersey to games. He was the go to guy in key situations and he delivered. I agree that without Holmes and Cothery he wouldn't have had as Much success but hell outplay Holmes any day. Bad knees or not, Holmes hasent practiced yet. Hamstring injury huh. Bray had his knees Surgically repaired and if contributing to a team that gave him a chance. Sucks For the Jets, good for the Seahawks. He's the one player I miss the most on our team
Jeebus. How do you ever log in to this site repeatedly with that screen name?hmy: How do you even remember your screen name?
I liked Bray, but he wanted too much money (at the time) and couldn't stay out of trouble. I'm sure the FO had a chat with Bray about his off field antics, I'm sure he promised them he would be a good boy...he wasn't. There was a very good possibility (at the time) that Bray would be going to jail for parole violations. That is why his stocked dropped, why we didn't re-sign him.
Don't look @ the money Braylon makes now & think that just a little bit more & he'd be with the Jets. They both played well & either would've been a good choice @ the time. Braylon spends the next year injured & putting out almost zero production. Holmes quits on the team before the season ends. Neither of them got the job done. When Holmes & Edwards both hit FA, it looked like the Jets could only afford one of them. Stop this bullshit about how Edwards could've been signed with the salary given to Plax because it's not true. Nobody, including Edwards, thought the offers would be so small. By the time league let Braylon know he was not ready for a big contract, the Jets already had signed Plax. ==== J-Cro wanted off the Jets. Don't blame Tanny for getting rid of a player who specifically asked to be off the team.
the dolphins signed Chad Johnson, they brought in Braylon for a workout and told him no, what does that tell you?
If the Jets went after Bray and Holmes immediately they could have gotten both but might have missed on Cro. Chasing Nnamdi led them to get only one WR. I'm pretty sure that's how it was reported
