I'm clearly playing hypotheticals but his roster spot isn't a lock. I think if he's cut he makes perfect sense to bring him in. We could get him on the cheap, he's a solid blocker and poses at least a threat in the pass game. What say you? From Roto: If Chris Cooley earns a roster spot this year, he's expected to be used only in "small doses." The Washington Post believes the Redskins would want to "keep him fresh and maximize his effectiveness" after last year's knee injury. The prescribed small role begs the question of why Cooley would kept on the roster at his $3.8 million salary.
he is...he's coming off a knee injury but if he's cut its going to be due to his salary against his role. i view him as an upgrade over any backup TE we have in the blocking game, because well...we have no backup TE in the blocking game.
Just like Favre should have been a Packer for life? At 3.8 mil against the cap and Fred Davis having emerged Cooley's spot is very much in jeapordy there.
Ah... right. That is the TE that banged one of the cheerleaders from his own team. (and married her eventually.)
So has he fallen off? Complete bandaid? I lost track of his career, I know he was legit at one point.
Cooley fell off a bit in 2009 before missing pretty much all of last season with injuries. If he's healthy, he can maybe help as a #2 tight end. However, he's probably redundant with Josh Baker: same size, and both can flex between fullback and tight end.
He could do well as an option of the bench, I wouldnt say no to him, think the more pressing issue atm is at wide out and not TE
2 point of views on that one. Yes Favre should of been a Packer for life but they had someone younger and ready to take his role over. Brett Retired Unretired and Retired again. I dont blame the Pack for moving on with an unsure QB.
He's redundant in the sense that they play the same positions, but if Cooley is even remotely healthy then he's on another level than Baker. He's also a total dumbass, but that would just help him fit in on the Jets.
