Well yeah, the bullpen will probably have to be completely redone again. Hopefully they have a bigger budget for next year... And replaced whoever scouted Ramirez and Francisco.

Three perfect innings to start for Santana, and then the next four batters get 3 straight singles and a (grand slam) home run. I don't know if he's ever coming back, but he's pretty clearly just awful right now.

I have the feeling that his ankle is still bad, even his first 3 innings didn't look too good

Interesting Cablevision issue - just as fans are happy to be getting NFL Network, they have pulled the Tribune channels from the lineup, including Channel 11, which is carrying the Mets games tonight and tomorrow. If the team hadn't gone into free-fall this might be a big deal to a lot of people.

Wilpons are a fucking royal embarrassment in NY sports..how they can commit to that salary level when 60% is tied up in 3players is frankly pathetic.

This team rode a decent way of the season on enthusiasm and over perf in certain areas but the lack of talent and depth of players is evident for everyone in mlb to see.

Its a shame as we had something good at ASB but our inabiity to speculate or spend cash fucked us in the ass.

Oh well at least our football team is good....oh wait a minute....

Meh - it was pointless sending him out there anyway just to watch him get pounded every game.

The Mets are down to maybe 4 or 5 players who are performing at a decent level consistently - Dickey, Niese, Murphy, Tejada, and Davis are about it (Wright hasn't been terrible in August, but he hasn't been what they need him to be, either).

At least it does look like Davis is back to being the player he had been - it's been hard to notice as the rest of the team collapses, but he has an OPS over .900 over the past 2 1/2 months. If they re-sign Wright and Dickey they would have 2 decent starters, a good infield, and basically absolutely nothing else.

Why am I still watching this team? Did y'all hear Mike Francesa rant on them today? It was funny.

Brilliant major league debut for McHugh, with no hitting and the team sabotaged by lousy defense after he left. Shocking.

The Francessa rant was epic.. everything he said is exactly right. It's really a shame that Selig is butt buddies with Wilpon or I'm sure MLB would have stepped in. The Mets should be a marquee franchise, instead they are stuck with the bottom feeders and joke franchise that the Mets are. It begins and ends with the Wilpons, there is no way these jackasses should be anywhere near a pro franchise.

I dont get it, how did the mets become so bad so soon? They were rolling at the ASB and seems that they have completely collapses in every single way.

How did it get to this point?

    Dickey 16-4 (.800), rest of the team 42-65 (.393).

on the first run of the game, it looked to me like Dickey was out of the baseline

Another excellent outing by a rookie starter - perhaps all is not lost for next year. Nice to see Ike back up to snuff as well, but the rest of that lineup - yikes!

Dickey with another complete game shutout (his third of the year). He leads the NL in complete games (5) is second in ERA, and is tied for the lead in wins. I'm sure he has no chance for the Cy Young, but he deserves it. He's the first Met in 14 years to win 17 games.

Davis also continued his strong second half, driving in all 3 runs. Wright continues to sink - it looks like he'll barely stay above .300 for the season, but not by a lot.

That award is supposed to go to the best pitcher even if on a shit team, so he better get votes. Some geek on ESPN this morning (Olney maybe [Hey, I just met you, Olney maybe]) had this as his order-
    1. Cueto
    2. Chapman
    3. Kimbrel

I agree he without question better get some votes - if the award were to go out today he should win it. Top 3 in the league in 6 categories including the most important imo, #1 in wins (and I believe %) and #2 in ERA. Unfortunately the Mets complete collapse after the All Star break will probably cost him. I think that if we would have at least stayed in the WC hunt he would have had a great chance even if we did not make the playoffs.

I am not a fan of a closer earning the award unless they are unquestionably more dominant than their peers and there is not a real viable starter deserving. That is not the case this year with, Gio Gonzalez, Cuerto and Dickey. I would give Kimbrel an edge over Chapman.

Obviously the last month of the season will ultimately have an effect but Dickey could end up 20-4 or 19-5 and still not win it.
