Neither one looked "good" last night. In fact, Bush looked lost on several plays against 2nd and 3rd stringers. It also looked like he was responsible for the blocked punt, backing up Eric Smith. **on edit** Bush and Dowtin were both responsible for the blocked punt. But, the league is full of 6th and 7th round DBs who step right in and can play at a high level, right?
I was hoping the Jets would come out of this game injury free. But Smith is slow and it was tough watching TE and RB run all over the middle of the field last year. With that being said let's see what Allen and Bush can do. Then we can statr to the phase out of Smith all the way and off the team.
its funny how everyone always assumes the new guy is better than the old guy simply because they dont like things about the old guy...
I don't like talking negatively about players on the Jets, but damn, Eric Smith shouldn't even be starting in the NFL. He's given up more big plays than anyone on the team. You could likely throw in anyone off the bench and they'd play as good as Smith. No big deal.
this could be a blessing in disguise. Afterall, Eric Smith is not exactly what one would call a "good" football player.
It's not a big deal now, because the rookies will get more snaps, which can't hurt at all. I just hope he's ready for game one, but Landry + Bell will probably start regardless. So Bush & Allen would be backups. I kinda like the sound of that. We'll see what they're made of.
According to this, Landy ran a 4.35 at the combine. It was back in '07 but still, that is fast. http://walterfootball.com/draft2007S.php By comparison, E. Smith ran a 4.63.
