Most of us were annoyed by the worst case scenario thread about Sanchez, so I decided to make this thread. What happens to Tebow if Sanchez starts guns a blazin and Tebow rarely see the field? TRADE TEBOW. PERIOD. But for what?
Jets wouldnt trade Tebow until the offseason. Then it comes down to how much he improved, vs how desperate said team is for him. I dont think Tebows good enuf that wed be able to ever get a 2nd for him. Maybe a 3rd next year if were lucky
Best case scenario would be: sanchez leads us to the playoffs with the help of tebow and the defense, mark has a 2007-2008 Eli type playoffs and leads us to a super bowl win.
Tebow cant be around next year if Sanchez does good this year. It just wouldnt be fair for Mark at all, unless Tebow is REALLY involved this year then yeah I guess we keep him and Mark together.
Tebow has a pretty heavy cap hit next year, we'll have to see. If Tebow is part of our success and Sanchez has a good year, chances are they'll both stick around. That's best case. Tebow would sign a restructured deal, and Sanchez propels us for years to come.
In order for us to trade Tebow, he will have to show that he is capable of being a starting QB. I don't think he will get that chance, so there's not a very big chance that we will be able to get any more than a 4th for him. Therefore, I think he stays a Jet unless he legitimately helps us win some games using both the wildcat and drastically improving his completion % (albeit not as much as Sanchez's hopeful improvement)
I have two best case scenarios; one where Tebow stays a Jet and one where he doesn't. OPTION 1: Sanchez solidifies his position as our Franchise QB with a high touchdown to interception ratio, ball security and team leadership. Tebow is extremely effective in short yardage and wildcat situations. Due to Tebow's success the Browns trade for him to add to Richardson and play a smash-mouth style of offense that doesn't need a QB with a high QB rating. The Browns give us a 2nd & 4th for Tebow. OPTION 2: Sanchez solidifies his position as our Franchise QB with a high touchdown to interception ratio, ball security and team leadership. Tebow is extremely effective in short yardage and wildcat situations. Tebow realizes that he will never be a successful NFL QB because of his inability to accurately throw the football and decides to transition into a fullback or tight end. He then restructures contract to be appropriate for his new position.
Regardless of whether Tebow sees the field (due to Sanchez setting the league on fire) Jets would be colossally stupid to trade Tebow. 1. Tebow's presence at punting team means Jets almost always have fake punt option that is as strong as anything. Regardless of whether Jets do pull that off, other teams have to respect that option and devote some of the preparation time for it. 2. Wildcat option is stronger than ever with Tebow in the wing. That will kill some more of the prep time. -------------------------------------------------- Thus I want to see Tebow throwing on fake punt during the preseason game, where nothing is on the line. Same for wildcat shit. Less time preparing for Sanchez = WIN. Get that drilled into your head till it makes sense to you. Last, but not the least, if Tebow does not post big number, maybe he will either leave the Jets or sign extension for very cheap labor. (Now if he leaves, who will take him? I don't see any team taking Tebow as a starter.)
won't show all our chips first preseason game... But if we do do people contain the fake punt run and enable the long field punt
Why not a third option (since thread title says "Best Case Scenaro". The year goes down like 2006 for Florida. Sanchez has a great year, TD to turnover ratio improves. Tebow comes in whenever Rex and Sparano feel like playing him, and he does a good job as well, to include throwing the ball.
On one hand I could see the FO using Tebow as an investment. Develop some passing skills in him and then trade him away to avoid the cap hit and get better than they paid for him. On the other hand, he's more or less what this offensive scheme needs: a versatile wildcat QB and source of defense confusion. So it wouldn't make sense to trade him away. Of course, if it comes down to his contract versus the cap and he wants to be paid like a starting QB to not be a starting QB there will be little choice but to dump him off.
I think the Jaguars would give at least a third for Tebow. Their owner is in love with him...... and obviously his marketability...... I think this is how the whole situation will play out. 1. Sanchez has an above average year taking the Jets to the playoffs WITH the help of Tebow. It was really justa joke of a thread. I like the Tebow dynamic, just got a little tired of hearing that he would take over the reins. 2. Tebow is successful in his role. The Jets, satisfied with the success of Sanchez, look for a Tebow trade partner. I think once Tebow is a success in what he is doing, teams will look more into making a move for him and you know Tanny is always open to a trade. My real question should be what would be a good deal for the Jets if Tebow is successful after a season in New York?
I gave you the answer, son. NONE, unless Jags are fucking stupid enough to fork over their 1st and 2nd next season. Unless the offer is too good to refuse, Jets will do very well to hold on to Tebow. If anything, Tebow will do his job by killing the preparation team on the other team. How do you buy that with a draft pick? I seriously don't see how.
Then Tebow essentially becomes what he should be...a gadget player running the option 4-6 times a game.
