That's NOT necessarily true. The Jets seem to have lots of backloaded contracts (guaranteed money is paid after the first couple of years of the contract), which means that they may NOT be able to afford to cut ineffective veterans without a significant cap hit. If they take too big a cap hit, then they can't afford to replace the veterans with anything but the cheapest FAs and rookies. That's the definition of "cap hell". This is especially relevant because the salary is NOT expected to increase much in the immediate future.
