I think the jets looked great last night on the ground and im not talking about the reverses im talking about blaylock and houston hitting the hole hard for good yardage but i saw the ny post that t.j. duckett is still on the top of their interests and also that mCcairens might be in a trade involving t.j. What do you guys think about the jets running situation
Where did he say anything about the Super Bowl in his post? It looked like the O-Line played better and that's why we were able to run the ball better. I still don't have much faith in Blaylock, but I'd like to see more from Houston
This is why I cant stand some of you guys....One decent preseason ground attack and we are asking if all of our problems are solved in the RB area. To answer your question, we do have some decent depth in the backfield, and they can be servicable, but not great. Not one of the guys we have in the backfield is a bonafided #1 back on any team let alone the jets. So as I continue to watch the PRESEASON games I dont get too excited because I understand that they are PRESEASON and other teams are playing different fronts, not game planning to stop anybody, they basically go out and play the game (very little if any film study). I say lets keep JMAC and not just eat DEAD money, because all Duckett is looking for is a chance to show his skills in a contract year, and he will be way to $ to resign after this year (again if he is traded to us) so we are in the same situation next year.... Keep the guys we have until Curtis gets healthy, you never know we minght find our guy....who is already on the team?? let them play and prove it in a SEASON game not PRESEASON
Agree entirely, Houston may grab his chance. If we can establish a decent O Line this year we could be ready to make big ground advantage next year. Curtis will be back sometime this year or he would already be on I.R
Jets | Team checks out Duckett; and Atlanta checks out the Jets Sun, 20 Aug 2006 07:07:52 -0700 Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports the New York Jets sent senior personnel consultant Jesse Kaye to Green Bay last night to scout Atlanta Falcons RB T.J. Duckett. The Falcons sent a scout to FedEx Field to scout the Jets. Atlanta is looking for help at wide receiver and safety, meaning WR Justin McCareins and S/CB Derrick Strait could be involved in the trade discussions.
I would like this trade looks like Mccareins is gone as well as straight. Hopefully if we get Duckett he doesnt fail his physical again.
If this is a straight trade then I say go for it , if however it involves picks , forget it. I'm in agreement with RochesterJet. Lets see what we have and also wait for Curtis to return (hopefully).
if we could get duckett for those guys im all for it i just dont want to give up some of our draft next year!
I don't trust Houston/Washington/Blaylock with the keys to the offense, I'm sorry. In our first two preseason games it hasn't mattered who's been in at QB--there's been absolutely no pass offense to speak of. No downfield production at all. Especially with a developing offensive line and a tender QB, I think that we are going to be leaning on our running game this season as much or moreso as we ever did with Herm. So we need to have personnel who can do the job.
Apparently the team disagrees, since ESPN just announced that the 49ers traded Kevan Barlow to the Jets. No details yet.
