And the circus continues...I have never in my entire life seen someone dominate the media like Tim Tebow. Anything and everything is a frenzy. I got a good chuckle out of this story.

I tried to view the company's website, but it looks as though it has been taken down. Article from NBC.

I searched the images and this is what I got. I am assuming this is one of the T-Shirts made.

I saw the story on PFT and thought it was funny. Not sure the Jets want their logo used in that fashion or the NFL. BUT, its actually pretty funny shirt. Jesus of NY.

strange , a no name company deserves no attention unless he was thinking of doing the same thing for charity or maybe seeking attention...hmmmmm.

He's not suing them, and they were selling it in the sub-category "Tebow shirts".

And that is what Tebow has taken issue with.

I'm surprised the Jets weren't the first ones to ask for this to be removed since it uses their logo. Or even the NFL ask for it

I think the issue is with the write up that is being used to sell the shirt.

    from the website :

We're not generally fond of broadcasting our faith, or mixing sports and religion...but we're also not the kind of guys who would ever tell others how to worship/root/live, and if Tebowmania is any indication, there are millions who like to mix their Sunday pleasure and piety.

This Fall, Tim Tebow will be in the uniform of the New York Jets, potentially taking the Tebowing phenomenon to a whole new level.

Now that the NFL's most popular player has moved his pulpit from Denver to New York City, he'll no longer simply be delivering sermons from the mountains -- he'll have the attention of the world's premiere media market. Jets for Jesus! Whether his message -- or his playing skills -- will thrive under the bright lights of Gotham remains to be seen...but we know that a legion of believers will have faith in him. He's not just looking to cure lepers, but heal Gang Green!

This fun design is not officially endorsed by New York's backup quarterback or the Son of God, but plays off the themes of Tebow's faith and his new team - borrowing from the J-E-T-S to promote J-E-S-U-S, with a fish for a football, and "MY" replacing "NY" with a color scheme that will be familiar to Jets fans. We don't take sides on the field or in the hereafter -- we just try to make fans happy, and this shirt should fit Tebow followers to a tee. It's available in green, white or grey in sizes small through 4XL. (Other colors/sizes/styles available on request)

    1) The shirt did not have Tebow's name.
    2) The shirt did not have Tebow's number. Even if it did, Tebow has no claim on the generic number 15.
    3) The shirt did not contain a likeness of Tebow.
    4) It did have a green oval, somewhat similar to the Jets logo. Tebow is not the Jets.
    5) It did say Jesus on it. Last I checked, Tebow is not Jesus, although some around here may feel differently.

Given all the above, the fact that a multimillionaire (Tebow) sends his high priced lawyers after someone who is probably making a couple of dollars per shirt trying to make a living, is a douche move, reaks of ego and arrogance, and is a really bad PR move.

Where they using his name in the copy? Yeah, but the C&D letter demands that they stop selling the shirt, not change the copy to remove Tebow's name. Douche move.

If he truly is a man of God, wouldn't he want to spread the Word any way possible? Like say on a T-shirt. A human billboard!

Hmm.. Maybe he is just a self promoting ego maniac with a bunch of dumb followers. P. T. Barnum was right!

But he is a GREAT leader.

They're in violation of the law, plain and simple. You can't use someone's name to sell a product, and the name "Tebow" appears all over the page. The main point of the request is to take his name off of everything. The demand to take it down completely is in follow-on to that -- often the thinking is that it needs to be completely stopped, and that is necessary to fully disassociate with the product. There have to be some consequences for violating the law. -- often times, the remedy is to completely take it down. Maybe later, they can come back out with it if they find a way to do it legally.

They used Tebow's name in the copy to sell the shirt. That was their exposure. Nothing to do with the shirt itself, and yet Tebow's high priced mouthpieces included the sale of the shirt in the C&D threat letter.

They should not have used Tebow's name, granted. But Tebow has no right to demand that they stop selling the shirt. Bad PR move for the millionare holy roller to be picking on the little guy for trying to make a living. It's not like the shirt had some sacrilegious message. The bible thumper should be happy that people want to wear a shirt that says "MY Jesus". I guess the millionaire hypocrite didn't like that he wasn't getting a cut.

I addressed all of that. It's like you didn't even read past the first line of the post.

I read your post. What the website did was exposed themselves to the possibility of a civil lawsuit. Tebow's lawyers sent a threatening letter. No papers have been filed and no court has heard any of this, so there is no "remedy". There is Tebow and his lawyers opinion and there is the websites opinion. There is a disclaimer in the copy of the website that directly states that the product is not endorsed by Tebow (or Jesus).

Because YOU feel that "They are in violation of the law" is your opinion. No judge has ruled on this.

It is MY opinion that Tebow sicing his lawyers on a mom and pop T-shirt company that distributes a Christian t-shirt because they used his name in their copy, WITH A DISCLAIMER, is a douche move and a really bad PR move.

His "brand" is that he is a born-again Christian. He is causing harm to an enterprise that is selling a Christian tee shirt. Very Christian of him!

You just said "They should not have used Tebow's name, granted." You yourself recognized they can't do it.

If you allow one to sell with your name, then hundreds of vendors would use Tim Tebow's name to sell their goods. And if you let go on, the judge can rule that you've waived your rights -- you can't be selective and stop some people and let others.

You should have stuck to the idea that the shirt is okay, because it probably is ( or, rather, the NFL is the ones that would probably shut them down).

But you seem determined to find a character flaw over something that is probably routine -- they fed this to TMZ to try and get more publicity.

What happened to "I don't care about what Tebow does off the field, I'm tired of the circus?"

Get something you think is negative and you lap it up like a breathless fanboy, "Oh noes! What's Tebow going to do next? Can I see more letters that his boring lawyers write over a stupid T-shirt?"

Better go hit refresh on TMZ to see if there's more juicy tidbits for you to hang on.

Ha. Thank you for your advice as to what i should stick with any what I should let go. You being the expert and all....

And btw, please do not attribute quotes to me that I did not say. I do care what Tebow does off the field. In fact his actions off the field is what the circus is all about. IMO, he is an attention whore posing as a Christian. This is just another case of his hypocrisy.

There is definitely a "breathless fanboy" in this conversation. It isn't me.
