I'm wondering what Ricky Sapp brings to the table? I haven't seen or heard much about him. I've seen talk of Brandon Graham possible being released by the Eagles. He could be another project for Rex if he's successful with Maybin and Sapp.

"Dunbar is familiar with the 46 defense, having played for Buddy Ryan on the Cardinals in 1995. Ryan is the father of the 46 defense (see the '85 Bears). Rex Ryan was the D-line coach on that Arizona team, so there's the connection."

So there is the connection. Not that Dunbar specifically knows Ryan's defense but that they have a previous relationship.

Interesting to see Sapp mentioned specifically.. They have some hope for him.

I thought that was odd as well.

The guy has been nothing more than a camp project, now our DL coach is talking about him like hes a real football player.

He was a pretty high rated passrusher coming out of college that fell in the draft and has been plagued by injuries and his character has been questioned... But he has potential and I am interested in seeing how he and Maybin turn out this year.

I think Maybin could potentially turn out to be more than a 3rd down player which would be HUGE for us, especially considering the lack of quality at the OLB position.

Everyone that Ive heard talk about Dunbar has said nothing but great things and this could quietly be one of the better moves this offseason being that we have an actual DL coach (instead of a DB coach coaching the DL position).

I am expecting big strides from this group and we have the potential up front to be a top 3 or 5 DL/front 7.

Oh definitely, I rememeber people on here actually wanted us to draft Sapp in the 2nd/3rd rounds for a while leading up the draft. So to hear that his knee might not be falling off is always a good thing.

Dunbar def might be the best "fa" move we made this last offseason.

My expectations for Maybin aren't so high, but I have tremendous faith in our Dline. Between Rex, Dunbar, and the fact that we have invested two firsts and a third into this Dline in the last few years, means its time to pay fucking dividends
