Poster on ESPN who is Glavine's brother in law (he's proved it in the past when I used to post on ESPN boards, including calling him being a Met when everyone else was saying he was heading to Philly) said that Glavine has a blood clot in his arm and will need season ending arm surgery and his career could possibly be over. As always take it with a grain of salt, but this guy has been money in the past...

How do we know its the same guy? I saw the post too, and the guy only has like 21 posts. And like, 2 weeks ago he was saying that Glavine was going back to Atl next year because he stopped working for him.

    I don't buy it.

So because he made a good prediction he's Tom Glavine's brother in law?

I think because I called Robinson Cano's homer today I'll be his brother.

He gave detailed daily updates during the process, I think he also posted pics of him with Glavine's wife at the all star game, but whatever

it seriously worries me because if hes been money in the past its hard to ignore...but i wont believe it until i see it....im just hoping this isnt the case because that would be devastating to this team

I haven't heard ANY buzz about this anywhere but in that thread. With the Sanchez injury the Mets had a reason for trying to keep it quiet(for a day at least).

You've got to think that someone else would've picked up on this by now.

Unfortunately it looks like the guy on the ESPN board wasn't full of it

Unfortunately, just saw it myself on ESPN..No news if it is a clot or not more tests to follow. WOW! this would totally kill us if we lose Glavine..

Losing Glavine would hurt our playoff hopes very badly

Strange that he's been pitching horribly for months and his last 2 starts before he goes out he actually looked better.

If he was going to be the "mid season" Glavine or Oliver Perez can step it up this really isn't much of a loss and may actually be better for the Mets. Presumably it ends any thoughts they had of getting him back here next year too.

Un-fucking-belieivable. I am absolutely speachless at this happening. I mean, wow. I REALLY hope this isn't too serious.

With him out, who do we call up? Brian Bannister? Ollie Perez? Perez had another amazing game last night(took a no-hitter into the 7th, ended up with 7IP, 1H, 0BB).

    Crap, this sucks.

this would reallllly be a huge hit to the mets...anyone who plays this off is just plain clueless....hes a huge veteran leader in the clubhouse...and when hes on he can get it done...yeah hes gone through a rough spell but other than that he sits em down...

oliver perez is no the answer this year

I'm not trying to play anything off. The thought of Tom Glavine as the Game 2 starter in a playoff series terrified me. Of course, it could end up worse(say if Willie decides that El Duque will be the 2 and Trachsel the 3).

Oliver has had great success in the past and he's had 2 very good starts in a row at AAA. Obviously at this point he's going to be called up and the Mets will see what he can do.

Glavine was very good at the start of the season, but he's been very bad lately. Not only has he not been pitching that well, he's been consistently leaving games early putting a strain on the pen. If he is indeed out for the year this isn't the end of the world.

People can overrate this, as I agree with 3rd that his Game 2 start would indeed scare me, but this sucks.

There is nothing good about this. Oliver Perez is not a replacement for Tom Glavine no matter how many good starts he has in AAA.
