I tried to search and see if this was ever posted, could not find anything. Could be pushed far back. I watched last nights E:60 featuring Patrick Willis and it reminded me of their segment on Santonio and Sanchez. The Willis segment is incredible, what a remarkable guy he is - watch it. For those that never saw the one on Santonio and Sanchez, check it out. Sometimes its great to see where these guys came from and learn their story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgf9BMOMaPo&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFre-eJzgKY Apologies, embedding doesn't seem to work for me. (mods please embed it if possible).
Only good things to come for sanchez.....I may be only guy who still likes him!! I think we have a better shot with him than tebow
No I agree also. While my support for Mark is waning a bit, he's the obvious choice of stating QB over the stable of 5 we have now. And I still think he's better than a good number of starting QBs in the league.
i think most jets fan like him, and the majority would agree that we stand a better chance with him than with tebow. His problem is that he is not top-5 (and probably will never be), which would have meant a SB by now.
Huh? He's been solid in the playoffs. He played extremely well in the 2010 playoffs so not sure what game you've been watching. He dominated New England and was excellent against the best defense in the league in Pitt.
I have seen every snap Sanchez has taken as a QB for Jets, and, like you, experienced countless games where Sanches has been stacking up 3-and-outs, to be bailed out time-and-time again by the defence, then to have a solid quarter that saves the day. I will support Sanchez as a jet and i hope that he will become a strenght of the jets but with the defence we have had the last couple of years, a solid QB would have taken us all the way. (in that statement i include that the best of defences will have a bad day (pittsburg game), but with a good offence you can get away with it)
Your original comment was that if he were a top 5 QB we would already have a super bowl. But, he has out shined some of the top 5 QB's in the playoffs, and the so called #1 QB in Brady. So your statement is incorrect. I'd say its pretty tough to come back 24-0 at half time against the best defense in the league. And he almost did it. What solid QB could do more than what he did in the playoffs in the situation he was in?
you are being anecdotal, if sanchez was a total scrap we would not discuss this. The fact that Sanchez played like a top-5 in one game that he almost came back is part of the argument. If he was a solid top-5 QB we would have played a play-off game at home by now, no WC etc etc, incremental things that change fortunes. Obviously having Brady didn't help New England that year nor last year, (then again they didn't have our defence). You are playing the odds, we had 5 years of winning an SB with rex (3 already spent), to do this everything has to fall into places in one single season. A top-5 QB will increase the probabilities significantly, so much that i think we would have won one by now (again a what-if argument).
Definitely not top 5, but if he cleans up his turnovers he'll be top 10, no question. All the other pieces are there.
the Jets can win without Sanchez getting to top 10. Terry Bradshaw, Eli Manning, Jim Plunkett, Troy Aikman and company all argue that many teams win the Super Bowl because they peak at the right time, have a great defensive effort and the QB looks like a top 10 guy for a few games despite not being one over the course of the season. Top 10 QB's tend to win the Super Bowl because of the out-sized effect that the position has on the field. That said, top 3 QB's tend to not win the Super Bowl because there's a lot more to the game than the QB position.
