Rex loves to blitz from all over the place. Drew was probably the best secondary blitzer we've had. Stickland is definitely better in coverage.
in 2010 his coverage skills seemed to improve in this system...not at all saying he was good in coverage, but average in 2010 IMO... but nevertheless, if looking at his career his coverage is below average.
He was a good blitzing corner that's why Wouldn't mind him back as long as he's not asked to cover as much.
They signed him to a deal (3 years, $5.4 million) and then got Aaron Ross, making Coleman expendable.
Surprising to see a thread where Jets fans are hoping for Coleman. Sure he knows the system but we've got a full training camp this season. Surely, somebody else brought in can also learn the system.
In addition to FA Aaron Ross (as Vanderbilt mentioned), Rashean Mathis and Will Middleton are both returning from injuries along with 6 round pick CB Mike Harris-Fla. St. that they're high on both at CB and ST. Numbers.
I hope so, he is a good backup and average starter, plus nice to have if we get an injury or holdout at BD.
I could see the Jets bringing him in during the season if someone is injured and he is still available.
This thread is worth something! The Jets are showing real interest: Rich Cimini @RichCimini #Jets have expressed preliminary interest in CB Drew Coleman, cut by Jax. Sounds like Coleman will test market. Two other teams have called.
No doubt. I'm not sure what some of these people expect out of a 4th/5th CB, but Coleman was not bad at all. No, he's not a greet cover guy, but he has skills that Rex can and will use and provides good special teams play.
