NFL.com 2nd Round Mock has NYJ taking Upshaw. I'd be happy with that. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0900...eener-osweiler-still-available?module=HP11_cp
The FO have ignored the clamor of NFL analysts, Jets fans and experts for the past three years in regard to selecting OLBs. I bet they do so again. My long shot: Alshon Jeffery slips to 42 and Tanny trades up to take him ahead of the Seahawks.
I dont think there going to look at alshon jeffery seeing as though they may want to bring back in braylon
BPA between RT, WR, and OLB. Our other big need is safety, but there is no safety worthy of consideration at 47.
I think it's either Jeffery or Sanu, should one of them still be available. If neither are still there, I think we zero in on Bobby Massie or Jonathan Martin at OL or grab Iloka a little early since there are so few good safeties on the board. As an example of updated mocks I'm reading, WalterFootball has us taking Sanu in the 3rd, with Iloka taken three spots in front of us, and Nick Toon one spot in front of us.
1. My head will explode if I see a fucking WR in Rd. 2. NO FUCKING WAY. FIX THE D. 2. That said, any good OLB prospect will fit the bill. (Doesn't have to be Upshaw, even though he'd make a damn good pick) 3. I'd like RT in Rd. 3. 4. Safeties and WRs in Rd. 4 and beyond.
I would love either of those big receivers if they are BPA in Rd. 2. I highly doubt Sanu falls to the 3rd, but crazier things have happened.
Massie in the 2nd Toon in the 3rd Massie is an animal of a run blocker with a mean streak, durable, experienced, and used to top competition, just what the Jets need in a RT. If he's there he better be the selection. Toon I just want in the 3rd because of nostalgia, although he's got good ability and would fill a need. I would still hope they pick up Braylon after the draft and Go Holmes, Braylon, Toon, Kerley - decent options there.
St. Louis will be looking to trade 1 of their many 2's. What would it take for JETS to grab 1 of their picks? 2 second rounders would be awesome. A 3 and a 5?
The Jets need OL or LB with the 47. Of the people who realistically might make it down there the order would be something like this: Vinny Curry, Bobby Massie, Andre Branch, Peter Konz, Mike Adams. They still need to firm up the trenches and their linebackers are getting old, as is Brandon Moore.
Trade up once, trade back then trade back up and end up with 4 guys Courtney Upshaw OLB Juron Criner WR Robert Turbin RB Amini Silatolu OL
A 3 and a 5 would only be half the value of their top of the 2nd round pick (33). Their last pick (45) is still well out of reach unless they are really fucking dumb. We don't have too many options because we can't trade our comp picks. The only trades we can do are moving up in the second round (likely) or attempting to do a player + pick deal (unlikely). Otherwise we'll be back to betting our future away (again).
Would love that pick but it's so hard to believe Upshaw can fall that hard. I'm still surprised that he wasn't picked up in round one.
