If he gets to 245, and can maintain it through out the season, he could be something great... I cant wait to see him take on a bigger role this season. He’s one of the few bright spots on an aging LB core. I would love for him to be that 3 down LB, but in order to do that he needs to reach his goal weight.
maybin is the reason hightower should be the jets pick. if maybin improves on last years then hightower becomes a nice ilb for when scott leaves if maybin stays steady as only a specialist then hightower becomes that 3 down olb we need.
ON 3rd & long...Maybin on one side & Nick Perry on the other side....DYNAMITE !!! Sacks, Hits, & Interceptions.
I think Maybin has a ton of upside. A good offseason in the weight room, combined with more familiarity with the defense could turn him into an every down player.
This gives me hope if we decide to use our first round pick on a Floyd or a Decastro... our OLB with an improved Maybin and Thomas (and a 2nd or 3rd round pick) might not be so terrible...
I clicked on this thread to make fun of the guy, but then I find out he spends his free time selling his art to help children :/
I don't think Maybin is particularly bothered by the prospect of seeing Nick Perry or whoever being brought in later today. Chances are pretty good, given this article, that he'll be more efficient than Pace/Thomas/Whoever on all 3 downs this year. Almost certainly by next year. He isn't trying to beat out Courtney Upshaw, he's trying to beat out whichever over the hill/inexperienced guy is the next best option in running situations. To do that he doesn't have to exceed their runstopping ability. His run stopping just has to hinder him less than his pass rushing ability helps him in the given down and situation. If he can accomplish that this year, we're going to have a killer on our hands in the coming years. I think he can. Don't have a conniption, SOJ F'ers.
