I have seen this piece of crap on the Giants post game show. He's horrible, can barely speak clearly and looks like he's crapping in his pants. He's a hack for the Giants and hates the Jets, he's Ian O'Connor's favorite host since they both hate us. That's his perogative but the rest of the media actually quotes him like he's an NFL expert. If he did not bash the Jets and specifcally Sanchez, nobody would listen. This is him bashing our QB once again, the Daily News is a peice of crap for making this a story. He's a ex Giant for christ's sake. Thank you Woody for being the anti-Jenkins

Amani Toomer left little doubt that he believes that Tim Tebow will overtake Mark Sanchez as the Jets starting quarterback this season. The former Giants wide receiver weighed in the Tebow-Sanchez discussion at the ribbon cutting ceremony of the NFL Shop at Draft in Manhattan on Monday morning.

“I don't see Sanchez being the starter for the entire season,” Toomer told reporters, including the Daily News’ Ebenezer Samuel, at the launch of the league’s new apparel partnerships. “(Sanchez) is not a great quarterback. I don't think it's a stretch to say that.”

Tebow has dominated the headlines since the Jets and Broncos made the deal less than two weeks ago. Despite the attention surrounding Tebow’s introductory press conference last week, tight end Dustin Keller isn’t overly concerned about the media circus surrounding the team these days.

“We already have 100s in there,” Keller said Monday morning from the NFL event. “What's 100 more?”

ESPN analyst Damien Woody, who played with Sanchez for two seasons, chimed in via Twitter seemingly in response to Toomer’s take.

“I'm going to be real clear on this.....” Woody tweeted. “did ANYONE think Eli was going to be great after Year 3?!?! Give Sanchez a chance!!!”

"What QB will succeed when you're constantly changing parts around him?!" Woody added in another tweet. "Makes no sense to draft a guy in top-5 & not give him what he needs."

The Jets begin off-season workouts on April 16.

He's probably right though. Sanchez is not a great player, just a good one when he's properly supported. The Jets are about being a media circus at this point, it's the team's strategy to try to compete with a first-class organization in the same city.

Unless the Jets light the world on fire this season Tebow is going to move into the starting job at some point because the Jets won't have anything else to raise their profile if they're not winning.

It's a shame that this is what Woody Johnson's ownership has evolved into but it is what it is.

Interesting Damien Woody has such strong feelings. He staunchly defends Sanchez on twitter, but also has come out and said Sanchez might have been coddled.

I'm sick of hearing about the "first class" Giants, they won 2 SB, that doesn't make them 1st class. They are anything but classy w/ the things they have done through the years including recently.

Damien Woody was one of the guys who was dedicated to protecting Sanchez when he was rookie and 2nd year player. He got tossed aside due to age, injuries and financial decisions on the Jets part. That wasn't necessarily a bad decision by the Jets but it must have been kind of bittersweet for him to watch Sanchez 3rd season largely destroyed because they guy who replaced him couldn't block a tackling dummy if you blindfolded it.

First class doesn't mean classy. It means you're sitting up front in the expensive seats.

Come back at me on that one. Even you can't possibly think the Jets have a better seat than the Giants at this point.

Who cares what toomer thinks about our qb situation....who's next in line of average receivers that don't matter to weigh in....Roy Williams, Hank Baskett. Toomer is irrelevant and this story should never have been printed.

Eli is really close to the same class of player that Sanchez is. If Sanchez gets 8 stable seasons on the Jets I would expect him to win a Super Bowl at some point. I very much doubt that he has even one stable season left at this point.

that's different, they are the champs. They earned that title and no one can take that away, we've been close. It's not like we have been the '96 Jets, I'm just tired of hearing about the class of the giants and how they do everything the right way.

They've won 2 titles in 5 seasons. Sorry, the Jets don't even come close to that.

After seeing the way Sanchez reacted to losing 3 first team snaps to Brunell after he injured his neck, it's hard for me to believe that he WASN'T coddled.

Sometimes you have to call a spade a spade.

I didn't say they did but it's not like the Giants have been some incredibl built team, they had nice runs and got hot at the right time but they were 10-6 and 9-7 the 2 seasons they won. Coming into this postseason they had won postseason games in one postseason since 2001. I tip my cap, they were at their best when it mattered most but they had a lot of good fortune, there wasn't much difference btw the 2 teams this past season.

Never had a double-digit touchdown reception season. He's an overrated piece of garbage and needs to quit media altogether.

Yeah, he seems to be the most level headed about the QB situation on twitter. I follow him and he routinely will defend Sanchez and say why he thinks Sanchez will turn into a great QB.

Nice to see Toomer explaining why he thinks that...

You're not looking at the whole picture. In addition to their two wildcard runs for the Super Bowl they also went 12-4 in 2008 and 10-6 in 2010. They also went 11-5 in 2005. The Giants idea of an off-season is 8-8.

Since 2006 when both teams changed GM's the Giants have won 57 games to the Jets 51. They've done this in a division with the Eagles and the Cowboys both fighting them for playoff spots each year. The Jets have had two weak sisters and the Patriots as their competition.

There's just no argument here. The Jets are not on the same plane as the Giants in terms of competitiveness at the championship level. They're not even close. The answer is to build a good organization that goes out and gets players that can win a Super Bowl, the way the Giants do.

The Jets answer is to try to win the tabloid wars though. Well, mission accomplished there.

12-4 in '08 is nice, 10-6 in '10 came when they were basically alreayd elimintaed. They had a shot to control their destiny at GB and got crushed 45-17 then eeked out a win over a terrible Wash team in week 17.

wasn't 8-8 an off season for us?

we've had some team calle dthe NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS in our division. While Philly has had down years('07, '11) and Dallas has had down years(one playoff win since '97 and'10 & '11) the Pats haven't had a down season.

The Jets and Giants are pretty close w/ the exception of a couple of nice playoff runs for NYG. The differnce btw the Jets having a SB in '10 is the Sanchez fumble which could have gone either way while the Giants got 2 fumbled PRs and Bradshaw fumbled but they blew the whistle against SF. There isn't much difference.
