You missed the part where he took over at 1-4 and they ended 8-8 He was 8-5 as a starter last year on a team that was the very worst win loss record wise in all of football going back 2 years right before the switch .
here's how I hope we use him. 1st and 10: Tebow and Sanchez both in the backfield along with Shonne Greene. Sanchez under center, Tebow in at RB. Sanchez motions out to WR, direct snap to Tebow 4 yard gain. 2nd and 6: Hurry up offense, Tebow lines up in the TE spot. Sanchez snaps the ball, quick slant to S. Holmes. First down (Tebow was blocking on this play) 1st and 10: I-formation, Tebow out of the game. Handoff Shonne Greene, 3 yard gain 2nd and 7: Shotgun formation, Tebow and Sanchez next to each other. Snap to Sanchez handoff to Tebow on an outside run, gain of 4. 3rd and 3: Sanchez out, Tebow in under center. Play-action bootleg, 3 yard gain FIRST DOWN. If Tebow can be taught how to block, and how to run the ball out of the backfield defenses will have a lot of trouble determining our intentions, opening up both the standard ground n' pound as well as downfield throws.
The whole key to Tebow is using him at positions while Mark is at QB. It makes it impossible for teams to substitute properly. If Tim Tebow realized he isn't a QB, and became just a football player, he would have a legit pro bowl future as an all around player. Or he can think hes a QB, we trade him next year, and he is out of football in two years.
Sanchinis an athletic guy. He can catch. Maybe tebow in motion, stand next to Sanchez. Snap to tebow, Sanchez runs a wheel route,
Win all those, beat the bills, and pats, puts us at 12-4 (assuming, and knowing, we beat Miami twice) and we could win division, maybe a berth. Sanchez wins at home, arc championship, bam! Superbowl.
SOJ fan over here. 12-4, come on man. We are going 19-0 and getting that Super Bowl  I could see us going anywhere from 7-9 to 11-5 depending on the draft and the time until August. Too early for me to try and estimate a record.
its funny to read posts about how tebone will play this or that or the other.. as if he can just go and pick up a position he has never played and be top notch at it.. these are probably the same people who say we need to give sanchez 5 years to mature and learn the game and ducasse 3 or 4 years to learn how to stop the guy in front of him from getting to the guy behind him... its simply what they WANT to see happen, not in any way shape or form what could or should actually happen.
Sort of like how Manning replaced Tebow after going 1-4 in the last five games he played? I guess we know now that Tebow = Orton.
Rex said, he may get 5,10, and maybe even up to 20. I think the up to 20 remark is meant to give the opposition more to think about when game planning, not that Tebow will actually run 20 plays.
Rex knows how hard it was to prepare for Tebow. He isn't going to say we are not going to use him very much. That would be counter intuitive to keeping the defenses guessing. I believe they plan to use him just enough to do just that - keep the defenses guessing as others have said here. I also think they will work with him in hopes he can get better as a passer. There are more weapons to work with on the Jets than Denver had. Denver was a god awful team without Tebow on the field. They were competitive with him on the field. It will be interesting to watch.
I think it could be top-cover to get Tebow a lot of reps in practice, because Rex is not sure Sanchez is the long term answer, and they want to be able to work on a Plan B.
You need to put down the kool aid. The Jets are in total disarray right now with plenty of holes. They are looking at 6-8 win season.
Jets during 2011 season: Disapointment. Jets since 2011 season: Laughingstock clown show. You're welcome.
This is what I can't stand about Tebots. You act as if the only variable involved was changing out Orton for Tebow. We're not stupid here, and that crap may float but it doesn't fly around here.
Yep. Out of control homerism. It has no cred whatsoever. What is laughable is that the people saying all that consider themselves knowledgeable about football. What they are really saying is someone who has very questionable fundamentals as a Qb, who has failed to learn those skills despite being a Qb for high school, college and two years in the NFL, will somehow between now and opening day learn to play RB, TE, slot receiver, running blocker, and even some have said some defensive positions as well. All positions he has never played before. It is worse than fantasy. It is embarrassing. My only hope is that if enough point this out to them, some will come to their senses. Nice comparison to what some of the same people say about Sanchez and Greene, too. The irony.
The very fact that you are here and so adamant about this notion suggests uncertainty & a pathetic attempt at a defense mechanism. Maybe the Jets ARE a 6-8 win football team. But then again..are you really gonna assume a team that boasts names like Revis,Cromartie,Mangold,Ferguson,Holmes,Moore & Harris w/ a Rex Ryan scheme is a shoe in for mediocrity? For all the negative press surrounding this franchise that is causing a trickel down effect among fans..let's not forget this team was 8-5 after 13 games despite a fragile locker room, many first time starters,Injury issues at safety & OL, and an offensive regime being overthrown. That's alot of negative variables and even so this team still barely missed the playoffs. Jets filled acouple holes in FA & have 10 draft picks to fill holes and instill some badly needed youth. Meanwhile players like Wilson, Greene, Wilkerson,Ellis,Kerley, Mcknight,Conner,& yes even Sanchez are all in place to be better players by next year. It's very easy to make your doomsday proclamations given all the negativity..but don't be surprised when you eat your words. 18-1*
