I lost it today when he said that. I always knew he had a huge ego but comparing his success to that of a pro sports orginization took it to a whole new level.
Because he must go into the deepest pits of sacrilege to bring up the sinners and thrust them onto God's righteous path....
Mike Lombardi just tweeted that Tebow picked the Jets . . . further confirming the reporting of both Schefter and Mortensen
1. My guess is he got the feeling Jacksonville really didn't want him. 2. He thought about all the endorsements he can get in NY 3. He realized he will have a good defense behind him and a OC who loves the Wildcat
And then he went on TV and gave a 3 minute interview at the beginning of Sportscenter where he explicitly said that his sources told him Tebow preferred the Jets over Jacksonville because Jacksonville didn't really sound like they wanted him. (i.e. they sounded like they felt obligated to be interested in him due to pressure from their fan base but that their interest in him wasn't genuine). Also, Mike Lombardi and Christ Mortensen have corroborated this report. There is an article on NFL.com right now conveying essentially the same message.
This is just like every player that selects a team. I picked them because I felt the love instead the truth being they got the most money. In this case he says he came here because he felt the love instead the truth is that he had no choice. According to Denver reporters which are closer to the situation there was no way the Broncos were going to let him go to the Jags and be a starting QB and come back and haunt them. They prefer to "bury" him behind Sanchez. Of course the best laid plans of mice and men .......
Not only that but Jacksonville was his hometown. He went all Lebron on them and took his talents to Broadway. He just wants to win.
Well, to be fair, neither one of us will ever know for sure. However, Schefter is a pretty good reporter and he spoke in depth about Tebow's desire to play for the Jets over the Jags. Also, the article on NFL.com (Which references Lombardi as a primary source), corroborates many of the specific details that Schefter reported on Sportscenter. I tend to think there is at least a kernel of truth in what Schefter, Mortensen, and Lombardi have said regarding how the trade went down.
that doesn't necessarily mean that he didn't but fair enough. end thread. who cares, anyway? He's a Jet, regardless.
It's not out of the realm of possibility that he just said that as to not hurt his fans in North Florida. Hopefully there was some Reggie White type shit involved here.... God told me to fuck the Jets and go to Green Bay because we're gonna win a SB there ... followed by a chorus of laughs.
Let's face it, with all the difficulties we have scoring i'm really not minding the fact that we just added a whole new dimension to our offense. Even though Kearley ran the Wildcat pretty well, you know they wouldn't look to use it as much with him as they are going to with Tebow. I guarantee our redzone % goes up,so looking at it that way I can't help but smile.
This should end this argument. Schefter now says! Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter Denver says it will do the trade that is best for its franchise. Jets or Jags.
