True point, but that doesn't make the previous post any less valid. It amazes me how when our posters accurately criticize your team you resort to ripping the Jets, instead of acknowledging some of the Pats pitfalls. Your secondary is the worst in the league, your 'star' CB had statistically one of the worst seasons ever in the history of the NFL. How hard is it to acknowledge that?
He's just a troll. If we were doing the right thing as a board and ignoring him he'd go away eventually. There are some Pats, Fins and Bills fans who post here in the interest of both learning and informing. Those guys are worth talking too. Then there are the trolls who you could post their opinion for them before they ever saw what they were going to post on. Those guys are useless. Feed the trolls if you want too but don't feed them and then complain that they're trolls. That's kind of silly, no?
You guys just got shitted on in the super bowl, again and yet you people still have the balls to talk shit about your team. Same old gay patriots fans.
IMO there are a lot of holes we need to fill BUT for us to have success we need to be able to run the ball! If somehow we could move up and draft T. Richardson from bama! Tampa might be a good target to try and move to the 5 spot to get him. i think there is a better chance of signing a WR/pass rusher/safety in the FA market then adding a RB through free agency.
Don't forget San Diego in the playoffs in 2009...and the Pats 8th yes...8th ranked defense 2010 twice... and the Pats 5th ranked in 2009..... Patsfan FAIL
Because of the defense. That doesn't mean that Sanchez didn't play well against a bad defense. Yes it is a team sport but within the context of this discussion we are talking about Sanchez playing well against a good defense. And to Rockinz there is a good chance that T-Rich falls to us in the draft.
I absolutely acknowledge that McCourty sucked this year, no doubt about that. Last year, Pats played a majority of zone coverages in the secondary and McCourty flourished becasue he never had 1 on 1 responsibility. Pats played more man-to-man this year and McCourty was absolutely lost out there. I'm convinced he does not have the skills necessary to play man coverage.
The Jet FO is obviously going to have to seek a balance of FA signings with draft picks, because I count six critical positions that need filling. They are: #2 wideout ROLB (a pass rusher) Safety (arguably they need two, but at least one) RT Change of pace RB Backup Qb In addition, the Jets have to bring back Pouha and Turner. They also need to decide what to do with some aging players, such as Moore (certain to be back, but they need to start thinking about how they are going to replace him), Scott, perhaps Pace (although I very much expect Pace back for one more year), and what to do about Jim Leonhard. In addition some seem to expect the Jets to replace Nick Folk, while I would say they even more need a new punter. I dunno, that sounds like it will not be all that easy to fill all those holes.
1) can kerley be a #2 wideout if they don't get anyone viable? 2) maybin? 3) agreed - 2 is a must i think 4) YES 5) mcknight? 6) is grossman a FA?
Good questions. Imo, here are some replies: Kerley. I thought Kerley was the one ray of hope and sunshine regarding recent draft picks. (I know many would say Wilson, but imo his improvement this past year was from such a poor start that he's still not where you'd expect a first round pick to be, but I digress.) Still, he seems to be the team's choice as the slot #3 wideout. That's a role that needs filling, anyway, so it doesn't solve much to now try and move Kerley to #2. He's got enough on his plate, and if he can get #3 done this coming season, that will be a big help. Maybin. Interesting question, and one I have no firm opinion on. It does seem, however, that for his talent as a pass rusher and for overall speed, he's still unschooled as a run stopper or pass coverage guy. He may develop into a more balanced LB, but to count on him doing so? Seems risky. Plus I think Pace's contract situation may require making a decision on him going into 2013, so this year is not a bad year to bring in a young OLB with a higher round pick. I haven't forgotten about Westerman, either, but the reality is he is pretty average. Safety. I have the unpopular opinion here that Smith is not near as bad as many make him, which I think is where my view is shared with the CS. But I am no Pool fan, and Leonhard seems too fragile to depend on now with his second major leg injury. Still I suppose whether two or only one new safety(ies) is/are needed here depends to some extent on Leonhard's medical condition, about which I have not heard anything. RT. Unfortunately it seems ridiculous to say so, but it is not impossible that Hunter will be the starting RT on Opening Day. Ugh. Let's hope not. McKnight. I'd love to think he's up to this role, but imo he's not shown the consistency needed here. They may have to try him out as the change of pace back because of too many other holes to fill, though. Backup Qb. I don't know if Grossman is available. Orton is my favorite candidate here, but ftr I think what the Jets do about backup Qb is going to be the best indication we will get about how they see Sanchez, his current status and the team's expectations for him for the foreseeable future.
this crossed my mind, if they get someone competitive its just gonna mess w/ sanchez's head more and might have a negative impact. i think they'll just get someone useless and pretend to have competition w/ sanchez and if sanchez doesn't produce next year, they'll get someone real to compete for the job
