Hey I was on a Skins board and one of their members posted a report from NY Daily Newsreporting that we are interested in Betts. Here is a link to their thread. The fans there are high on him like a bum on glue.

My bad if its been reported but at least u can read the thread if u want to see what they think of him. THey make him out to seem like a LaMont Jordan, a legit starter who is stuck in a backup role...

Betts is a pretty good running back, not sure how much better than Houston he is.

I think the consensus in Washington is that Betts would be capable of starting and carrying the load, and with the first offense that Gibbs installed I think he was considered a better fit than C-PO. Betts is in a contract year, so now would be a good time to deal him away. Plus, they have Rock Cartwright and Nehemiah Broughton as depth... both of whom the Washington CS are high on.

Also, I believe Betts is better in pass protection than anyone we have on our roster... after watching Pennington get blown up last night because Houston missed his blocking assignment, I wouldn't doubt it.

I wonder if they would take Ramsey back for him! LOL

There's no need. I say have Houston and Washington split the carries and cut blaylock.

It would be a solid addition but im not sure what the asking price would be. I doubt we would give up a player...probably a draft pick hopefully no higher than a 4 or 5. I wouldnt be willing to give a 2 or even 3 for an unproven guy

Sadly the running back position demands more than the ability to move the ball, otherwise I would agree. If Houston/Washington can't do their job in protection we cannot rely on them.

Are we THIS desperate for ANY kind of news????? Even if we AQUIRED Betts, I'd say "who gives a shit". But this is a tread on a RUMOR of the Jets POSSIBLE INTEREST in this AVERAGE runningback. Lord, some of you folks are awfully bored.

I agree, but if it is true that we are so hungry for a RB, he'd probably be a decent choice. I just don;t think he has breakaway speed and I want a guy like that, who can really make a team pay for allowing a big hole to open. When was the last time the Jets scored a 60+ yard TD on a run?

First of all, anyone that has spent any decent amount of time on this site knows that such threads are created ALL THE TIME. It was apparently reported in the New York Daily News, so does that legitimate it for you? Respond this way every time you read a thread about the rumours that Curtis will retire, who our starting QB will be, or the first mention of any prospective roster move the Jets will make. Use your head man, when people hear things, they report them, be it in a newspaper or on a Jets forum. Everything is a "rumour of possible interest" until it is done. So would you prefer that absolutely nothing gets mentioned until it is, in fact, a done deal? And as for the boredom part, you must be pretty bored yourself if you're spending your time reading these threads that you deem so useless...

There's already a thread about him, there's no mention of the Jets in that article therefore this is in the wrong forum, and you could have edited your original post from when you created the thread instead of putting another post below your first one.

The "Post Reply" button exists for a reason: so that we can discuss topics in one thread instead of making a hundred about the same thing.

Betts would be a substantial upgrade for the Jets, assuming CMart is done. You guys calling him no better than some of the palookas who played for you last week just aren't in the know. As a Redskin fan I'm really happy with Clinton Portis, but at the time of the trade I was puzzled because Betts was a starting caliber RB and we could have used the juice elsewhere.

No matter, the trade will never get done. The Jets will give up maybe a 5 or at worst 4 rounder for a backup RB in the last year of his contract, the Skins will laugh at that. The Skins will demand next year's first round pick or D'Brick for a starting caliber RB who's about to be showcased in a contract year by an Al Saunders offense, the Jets will laugh at that. Different perceptions depending on your landscape - I don't see any middle ground here.

We'll get him for free after the season IF we want him.

And we already have a rb that's been "showcased" in Al Saunders' offense in a contract year his name is Derrick Blaylock.
