Good points. Cally's complicated blocking scheme went hand in hand with Schotty's overly complicated system and game plans. Sanchez isn't the sharpest pencil in the box, either. A dumbed down system seems to be the ticket for the Jets current players, as well as Rex's overall philosophy of keeping things likeable and learnable.

No offensive scheme can make this fish smell good. This may have been the hit that ended our season. Hunter looked like a pedestrian in that play, not a football player.

I am greatly relieved that Callahan is gone. He did a crap job with the OL, particularly to the extent he had any role in not getting a replacement for Turner, and gave me no confidence he would have done any better as the OC.

    Good riddance.

This is exactly why I feel if Richardson is there @ 16 we have to take him, he's a much better overall back than any we have, good hands (catching & not fumbling), durable & can pass block... I think Rex would like to run the offense like it was run his 1st yr here & that is literally running the ball.

Abysmal, you hit this one right on the head. Clearly a step in the right direction. Simplifying the offense and highly amplifying the run efficiency is a key ingredient to us moving forward. That will make us more competitive, less prone to errors and more efficient on executing our offensive strategy with our current QB situation. That been said, elite teams have a powerful passing game that compliments the run and moves the chains when falling behind. This is a passing league, more now than ever. You are only as good as your QB can take you and right now Sanchez is the lowest common denominator to our future success. If he does not improve significantly we will be better to some extent, but continue to be left at the altar by better passing teams.

Yes, Trent Richardson at 16 would be a great pick for us. Ground and Pound needs Runners. Also, being from the SEC helps with transitioning to the pro level quicker.

Most mock drafts have us selecting Safety, but we need another RB.

I want Ground and Pound back because it can open up our passing game and maybe Mark can recover from Schotty Hell.

He'll handle both, but it'll still be Jason Garrett's offense. Garrett will call the plays.

Good point about Ducasse. I've held out a sliver of hope still for him since he didn't get an offseason of coaching this year. He's huge and he's strong as hell. His problem is too often he can't read what's in front of him and who to block, and he ends up blocking nobody.

I'm wide open in thinking who I want to draft. Ideally, I want a pass rusher. But if a stud RB or WR fell, we could sorely use one. Same with a safety or an OT. So many potential needs for this team, we really just need one more impact player offensively, and some depth on both sides of the ball.

It would make Alan Fanecas and Pete Kendalls less valuable, as they are not as strong as they need to be as a drive blocker. As for Slauson, I would suspect that since he is still young and he does have quite muscle strength, I'd say he would be more effective than he was in zone blocking scheme, where he would get lost at times.

I think the change in o-line scheme will help Sanchez a lot. It seemed like some of his hurried throws this year was because it looked like a free runner was coming on a stunt or something right before Mangold or one of the non-in-gauged guards picked him up. I don't think Sanchez had a good feel for the Zone scheme.

I agree with you on this and Slauson has played at a number of postions on the OL, so we could move him around - depending of course on what we get in the draft

And slauson has the size to play man , whereas I think Moore, turner and schlauden, krohl (pathetic but I do not remember their names), all are smaller than sparanos would wish for.

I would go absolutely ballistic if we drafted a running back in the first round.

Most mocks have us drafting olb, if 1 of the 2 tops fall to us.

So far, physical defense and has won in the playoffs. Don't under estimate what a true passing game that compliments the running game will do for the Jets. When you want to ri. The ball and force the D to bring 8men in the box, you cannot match that with a passing game that only works 10 yards down field. The reason the running game is so valuable is so you can take chunks of yards in the passing game. Schotty never got this.
