Big Tony is gonna do a good job. He's also from Connecticut, so he'll feel right at home in the tri-state area.
i was reading these points all serious then i scroll to the next post and saw number 8 and started laughing my ass off
If Sparano or Haley were good Head coach's we wouldn't be talking about either as part of the Jets staff. The roadside is littered with failed Head Coaches that are excellent assistant coaches. Dom Capers, Dick Lebeau, Wade Phillips and so on
I was singing a different tune about 11-5, 7-9, and 7-9? We had a good year with the easiest schedule ever and pennington playing great. I was happy with sparano but I was in no way sold. After two 7-9 seasons I wanted him out. That's the truth. So he's done good with runningbacks. A lot of those running backs you just named are extremely talented players. I just told u my honest opinion of him regardless of if he was with the jets or not. You can take it or leave it. I'm just 1 person so its prolly not worth much. But trust me, I like the guy, so if I thought he was a good coach I would say it. I have no reason to lie about it.
Between Sparano, Haley and Lee, we'll pretty much have the same offensive staff as the 2006 Cowboys. Some notes about that season: QB: Bledsoe/Romo - Romo got the start in week 7 and never looked back. 4000+ yards between them. RB: Julius Jones/Marion Barber - Jones had 1000+ yards for the only time in his career. Barber got 16 total TD's and 850 yds rushing+receiving. WR: Owens/Glenn/Crayton - Owens and Glenn both had over 1000 yards receiving. Crayton had 500+ as a third receiver. TE: Witten/Fasano - Their base offense was a 2-TE alignment. This tells me we'll be doing the following: 1. Dustin Keller is either going to have to get bigger or get traded. 2. We're bringing in a veteran WR. 3. We're bringing in another TE that can block. (maybe Mulligan?) 4. Joe McKnight is going to have a bigger role on offense.
I wish you guys would stop evaluating his OC performance while he was a head coach, and focus on his performance while he was an OC. We have many examples of coordinators that sucked as HC but ARE STILL GREAT COORDINATORS. Sparano's credentials as OC are pretty solid and much more consistent with the so called Jet's philosophy of "ground and pound". Which quite frankly is a must with Sanchez's current capabilities. If we don't have a top 4-5 running team we are screwed and Sparano is a perfect fit for us. Same rational could apply for Rex. As a DC he was outstanding. As a head coach he brought that strong D and mentally that made us a contender.....but he did nothing offensively . Nor only did he allow Schotty to do his thing unsupervised, he lost control of the players in and out of the locker room. So would I consider Rex for an offensive coordinator job, in a nano second, but as a HC the jury is still out.
