Brian Costello of the New York Post tweets:

Sources tell me Jets are considering Tony Sparano and Dirk Koetter for OC position if Schottenheimer leaves. #nyj

Per ESPN ticker Sparano also considering Cowboys.

Koetter has been the OC for the Jacksonville since 2007 when he coached them to 7th best offense (357.4 yards per game) up from 10th place and (338.9 ypg) the previous year.

Koetter has been instrumental in the development of Maurice Jones-Drew, Mike Sims-Walker and Marcedes Lewis.

This s fucking pathetic. Great. Lets hire the OC of the worst fucking offense in the NFL. I know Jax lacks talent, but c’mon!

Why the fuck cant they look at someone who knows how to run a successful offense in the NFL?????

Look at franchises that succeed! Joe Lombardi and Tom Clements are atop my list. What is stopping them from looking at them? First a combo of two ex HC and now the OC of the Jaguars... And this is supposed to provide hope for this franchise?

It doesn't make any sense. Why would the Jets consider an OC from a crap can team like the Jags.

It baffles me that as fans, we can speculate and think of possibilities that would benefit the Jets organization and then we hear news of this. Are they blind to this teams problems?

How is this supposed to calm a disgruntled fan base after a more than disappointing season.

HE SUCKS! they hate him here as bad as we hate Schotty...... I mean seriously, he moved them up 3 spots in 2007?!? SIGN THIS BEAST!

Sims-Walker, extremely overrated, M.Lewis has been a TD dropping machine..... MJD is just a little beast with HUGE heart and would be good (probably better) on almost any other team. He IS that offense.

All these rumors have to be bullshit!

  8. This much I will say:He believes in a strong running game and WILL implement the ground and pound. So from that regard it makes sense.

Now the rest of his resume? Jaguars have always struck me as a physical offense with a scrappy running game, very good tight end play when healthy with Mercedes Lewis but otherwise a limited passing game. Whether that lack of a passing game was a result of limited talent or scheme is the real dilemma here.

Weird the Jets are interested in an OC who got a HB the rushing title this season, despite the fact that they had a pathetically horrible qb and terrible receivers so the box was constantly stacked.

I wonder why we would want such an OC

I guess we could defend him and say his QB licks asshole, they had a bad WR situation, and MJD is the offense but still...

    fuck me sideways

Part of this is true...... I think alot is due to that MJD is their only real offensive threat. I would love to have him play for the JETS. Lewis has been bad this year, was last year a case of free-agent play for pay?

He takes heat for not being creative, but again, their WRs haven;t been good since Jimmy Smith

I was hoping Saints would lose todag so we can talk to some of their position coaches as a possible OC hire...

Yeah, it's not like the Jags have a very good O-line and a very good RB. They line up and say stop MJD because that's their strength, and yet a lot of teams can't because their D-lines have trouble matching up.. Kinda like the Jets did in '09-10 with the run game.

On the other hand, every other part of their O is atrocious.

    Yeah. Let's get that guy.

Rex needs to wake up. Ground and pound will not win playoff games. It's a new league. Teams need to pass to win, running is obsolete. We will be absolute shit with a ground and pound philosophy.

From the look on index page I was hoping "Maurice Jones-Drew" would finish this sentence.

Did you see how effective the Saints running game was? It is still very effective. Their running game actually gained large chunks at a time, causing Detroits LB’s to cheat up. This allowed for large seems over the middle and you get the Devery Henderson TD.

Yes, this league has shifted to passing, but a solid combination of run and pass go a long way.
