I'm genuinely curious what most Jet fans would really want if they could have their way?

Let's face it, Rex Ryan is one of those guys who can take a garbage team, young team, underachieving team, misfit team, etc., and make them believe in themselves! BUT, that is not what sideshow Rex inherited in the Jets......the Jets were a team on the verge of being a good, solid, team......they did not need the sideshow, rah-rah, BS that comes with Rex.

If you could wave the wand:
    1. Would you have sideshow Rex as a coach?
    2. Would you have Sanchez as a QB
    3. Would you opt for a long term plan to generate a solid organization?
    4. Or would you want a "win it now" team?

Win it now is a long term plan when the last time you won was 42 years ago.

I get that.....and I also get that growing up near Pittsburgh and being a Steeler fan since I was a young teenager (which happens to coincide with the Steelers rise to the greatest sports franchise in the world) was good fortune for me.

As a Steeler fan, I honestly don't know what it would feel like to follow a team that I loved who left me upset for 42 years.

BUT.....would you rather have a team like the Steelers who are always in the hunt or a just a "win now" team like the Bucs or Rams from the early 2000's? In other words.....do you just need a fix, or do you want the steady diet?

Umm..the greatest sports franchise in the world happens to be the Yankees and nothing else is even in the conversation.

    That's funny:)

The Yankees are the epitome of what is "not" a great sports franchise. They buy what they win and they often spend insane amounts of money to buy a clunker! If MLB baseball weren't such a complete disaster the Yankees would be irrelevant.

I hope you are having fun exercising your delusions on another team's message board. You might want to consider seeing a therapist, or perhaps getting a hobby.

Yes, and if you think he's just a rah rah guy, you should look at the difference between what our pass defense ranked when Mangini was here, and then in Rex's first year. He's much more than a cheerleader (i.e. Herm Edwards). He's a great defensive mind.

If I had a magic wand, we'd have Brees, Rodgers, etc.

You obviously want a long term plan for success, but there aren't too many teams that can be successful every year despite players coming and going. Most of them are Quarterback dependant due to the nature of the league.

I disagree with this part. Teams that are perennially successful are teams who have solid ownership and an organizational plan which is not dependent on any given player or group of players. It's becoming harder and harder to do this since the league keeps changing rules to promote more money but it still holds true for the teams who have the philosophy.

You must be 12. The Yankees had more than 20 championships before there was even free agency or spending of any kind. The Shitsters have what 6? 7?

The fact that all of us still follow this team has shown that were got nerves of steel or we're clinically insane. Either way, I know Jets fans will appreciate/party harder when they win the Superbowl much more than Steelers/Patriots/Packers fans.

I totally disagree. I can see why you'd have this opinion as a Steelers fan, but for most teams in the past 5 years or so, elite QB play is what carries them to winning a Super Bowl.

How many QBs that have never passed for 4000 yards have won the last 10 superbowls?

There are certain teams that can build around defense and the Run (i.e., us, baltimore, the steelers somewhat) but for the most part you can't hide your quarterback forever and good defenses lose to good offenses in the past few years. Probably due to more and more rules protecting QBs and WRs.

There are very few top tier teams that could stand losing their QB and still play for a Super Bowl/contend every year.

GTFO the Jets forum you troll.

  15. I hate to tell you this...but remove the "Championship or fail" mentality for a second and the Jets HAVE been a very successful franchise since basically 1998. They've been in the playoffs numerous times and twice over the past 3 seasons have come very close to getting to the Super bowl. Have they fallen short of the ultimate goal? Obviously they have. But I doubt you'd be here throwing salt in the wounds if the Jets were as irrelevant and disappointing as you portray them to be.

That is why they won. The Yankees won because of the reserve clause. In later years they used the KC A's as their personal farm team. In recent years they won by buying players. TheLakers and Steelers won their championships fair and square. The yankees ruined baseball.
