Seems we gotta bunch of nice guys on D. Whose that nasty dude? Whose gonna lay that receiver out over the middle? When Big Jenks said we got rid of our heart and soul i wasnt sure what he meant, now i know. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME A JET DEFENDER HIT SOMEBODY AND MADE U SAY OOOH!??? The receiver from the Pats hits harder than most of our guys, ask LT.

Big hitter is usually code for too slow and stupid to correctly play the position. It's why Roy Williams got to be the worst starting safety in the NFL for roughly 10 years, and why awful players like Merriweather stick around forever. Big hitters are useless, especially with the defenseless receiver rule.

David Harris can lay some people out and he has this year and I have said OOOH. The team needs speed not hard hitters.

big hitters yes -- no speed and no legit pass rush were the two biggest issues.

That's not necessarily true; there are plenty of guys (Terrell Suggs, Brian Dawkins, our own David Harris, etc.) who can lay out vicious hits but remember to play their position first and foremost.

I also don't think that big hitting is a useless skill. A 15 yard penalty will be little consolation to a receiver who has to eat out of a straw because James Harrison has locked on to him over the middle. If big hitters were useless, then the term "alligator arms" wouldn't exist.

Harris is the only Hitter on our defense.

Maybe Revis to a lesser degree, but hes a corner so you cant expect him to crush people like a linebacker.

Smith is a ferocious hitter, he's just too fucking slow to actually hit anybody.

It's funny how we are so focused on fixing the D despite it finishing 5th in the league, and in the top 5 among other categories. I would love to add speed to our defense, but the offense is the main problem here...
