With this loss and the season over, I have to say, I am both excited and intrigued to see what the off season brings for us. All of us will agree that there are many holes that need to be filled on this team, one of which is the Offensive Coordinator dilemma. Coaching moves will be made and off season moves will begin, but when does everyone think the offensive coordinator deal will be dealt with? Should it be dealt with immediately, or should more thought into picking a quality replacement be looked further into before making a move? IMHO, if they are smart, he should be gone immediately, and the search for a new OC should be started immediately. What is everyone's thoughts on the timeline?
They should let him go in a classy manner after the NFL season ends (after the Super Bowl) and then initiate a thorough search for a replacement (though they should be starting their homework even over the next month). As much as fans would love to embarrass a guy who's frustrated them, the franchise isn't going to become a very popular destination for high-level coaching talent if they appear to go off half-cocked and make outgoing coaches into scapegoats for disappointing seasons. The franchise needs to look stable and intelligent right now, not angry and irrational.
Scape goat or not, Schitty will be gone. He has the media and the fan base looking for blood, he won't survive that.
Schotty has a 4-2 record in the playoffs under Ryan, taking us to two afc championship games all on the road. Hes the one who will lead us to the promised land.
It was the defense that got us those winning seasons. Don't kid yourself. Schottenheimer is just like his father - a loser.
Until I see it, I'm not convinced Shotty is the fall guy. I'm starting to wonder if Sanchez goes first for whatever reason.
normally i would have said "what time is now?" but having seen sanchez's performance today (which was just staggering in its ineptitude) you have to wonder how much of this really is down to Schotty and how much of it is a consequence of having sanchez to work with. I still think he will go this offseason and should go but i am quite a bit less of a schotty hater after watching sanchez play today.
I loathe Shotty, I really do. But what if Sanchez does all this shit daily in practice? Maybe that's why Shotty calls the game he does? I just don't know anymore.
Schotty's play designs suck. You hardly ever see receivers get any separation. You've got to be more creative a la mike McCoy with Tim Tebow and play to the strengths of your playmakers. But no coordinator is going to look good when your QB sucks and turns the ball over 4 times a game.
While I do agree that Sanchez has been nothing but mediocre, if that, I also believe a lot of the blame needs to be put on Schotty as well. Calling a gameplan with 60+ throwing plays with a quarterback who has struggled often and a team whose main way of offense is on the ground, it makes you wonder. Especially all those times when all receivers ran routes of less than 10 yards on 3rd and 10. It just makes no sense to me. I am anticipating seeing Sanchez perform with a new OC and a better Right Tackle. If his play continues as it is with those additions, I will agree that he needs to go. Right now though, I want to see what he does with those replacements.
You really don't know much about this game do you. You realize Schottenheimer was around BEFORE Sanchez and still sucked. Even with Brett Favre he sucked! All you see is the guy on the field. Well, it goes a little deeper than that. Teams are made up of coaches and players (not just a QB) and there are many reasons this team wasn't successful this year. Mostly, however, the offense's failure falls on the OC. Where they belong!
Agreed. Sanchez has made mistakes, but he also gets blamed for things that aren't really his fault. The O line has been abysmal, the running game non-existent, and the WRs have quit time and again. I truly hope the Jets realize they need to make a change with the offensive coaching staff.
