My proposal for the QB situation hasn't really changed...

We're paying Sanchez a ton of money to be okay. He has 2 years left if I'm not mistaken. I don't really want the Jets to groom this guy into a great starter only for him to walk, honestly. I presume we're not going to trade him, cut him, or do anything of the sort.

Regardless, my first pipe dream would be to get Peyton Manning at a reasonable price. But that's a pipe dream, and I don't know what we'd even have to do to pull that off. So let's ignore that for now.

I'm interested to hear what our draft experts have to say about some of the QBs in this upcoming draft. I would like the Jets to draft a QB for the future possibly. Here's what I think...

Luck and RG3 are obviously gone.

Landry Jones might be there for our pick, but I'm not interested honestly. Not impressed.

Maybe Tannehill if he's there in the 2nd? I'd consider that. What do our draft experts think?

My personal choice here: late round pick on Brandon Weeden. Yeah, I know Drew Henson and Chris Weinke didn't exactly work out. But I'm impressed regardless of his age. And you're getting a guy with 1st round tools at a huge discount from what I can see.

I'm not a big Kellen Moore fan either.

    Any other interesting prospects?

I've been saying for a while now that I'm not a fan of Sanchez's, but there's no real solution out there. Doesn't mean it's not worth taking a shot on a QB in this draft and hoping to strike gold.

    Mark Sanchez...........period

The Jets aren't gonna cut him, get a better OC in and a full off-season with Kerley, Keller, Turner and two WRs (not Holmes)

    I know....just backing you up.

Definitely need an upgrade as backup, who can push him and help him improve.

Flynn - GB Free agent who only threw for 480 yards and 6 tds today against Detroit. Cheap and give him a chance to win the job. No brainer.

I dont want to give up on Sanchez yet, and drafting a 28 year old isnt something I'd be a proponent of.

And idea that is intriguing (although it has nothing to do with the draft) is to sign Tom Clements as OC and bring Matt Flynn in with him. Let Sanchez restructure to a deal thats reasonable and see what Flynn's price would be... Im not exactly sure as to what it would be, but I wouldnt break the bank on him if thats what he would ask for. Let the two compete and let the best man win. If Sanchez works out, then they can resign him next year, if not, let him walk.

That's exactly it. We're not drafting someone that can automatically replace him. But I don't see why we can't draft someone hoping that he can become his replacement at some point. That's why I'm a big Weeden fan. Shouldn't cost much, the guy's got a big arm, a lot of talent, and just seems to be a winner. Sure, he might be the real life version of Rodney Dangerfield, but it can't hurt.

They could use a veteran backup too that's a little less of a veteran than Mark Brunell.

Agree if he's cheap. I'm concerned he might not be. I do like the idea though.

I honestly think he's going to be the most pursued FA aside from Mario Williams... Dont think he'll be as cheap as we would like

I'm comfortable with Kyle Orton as an alternative.....he would surely compete with Sanchez.

Nobody will give him starter money, not right away anyway.

I know they were both trades, but Matt Schaub and Kevin Kolb got huge contracts afterwards and neither did that much more than Flynn up to that point.

Someone will definitely give him starter money, question is who?

Whoever needs a qb and doesn't have a chance at RG3 and luck, so I would say Dolphins, Redskins, and maybe Seahawks, depending on their cap situations.

I think he will be offered a bit too much, maybe 7-8 mil a yr?

Trade Sanchez to Seattle for a 1st or Earl Thomas and a 2nd.

Use that pick to trade up and get Robert Griffin III

With our O-Line we need a mobile, accurate, confident QB.

Let Marky Mark reunite with Carroll and suck balls in the rainy city

What I am about to say about Matt Flynn is coming from an LSU fan who saw every game in a season which LSU won the national championship

Flynn is not a long term QB option. He is Kevin Kolb 2.0. Physically he is about as similar to Greg McElroy as they come, and McElroy is more experienced and probably has a higher football IQ.

We shouldnt spend any draft picks on a QB, unless by some miracle Andrew Luck falls to us, not Moore, not RGIII, not Weeden, not Tannehill, not Foles, not Cousins

Give Sanchez another year but Mark Brunell isn't going to cut it anymore as the back up. Shitty we went out on a 3 game losing streak it gives us a better pick.
Landry Jones should get some looks if he falls to us. After this season we can't have Sanchez as our only option. Jones might have struggled at times but he also has looked like a great QB at times. He has a chance of being better if not already being better then Sanchez.
Bringing in a veteran to challenge or at least be a good back up like Flynn, Orton and Mcnabb might not be a bad idea either.
Doing that saves our pick to fill one of our many needs a right tackle, pass rusher, guard, wide receiver, safety or even running back. The 16th pick gives Rex and Tanny the luxury of going into the draft and getting their guy, they could even trade up for an elite prospect, we just need players that can come in and make an impact on this team

Flynn will get the Franchise tag or Free Agent Starter money. Teams always pay up in these situations. Kevin Kolb being the latest example just last year.

It's nice when you don't bother to take into account the salary cap or actual realistic trade value in the draft, isn't it?
